During the fight, William told his younger brother to hit him back after he allegedly assaulted him. “I chose not to,” Harry said in Friday’s preview of his ITV interview. “What was different here was the level of frustration, and I talk about the red mist that I had for so many years, and I saw this red mist in him.”
Harry also said that he does want to reconcile with his family. “First, there needs to be some accountability,” the duke said. “The truth, supposedly, at the moment, has been there’s only one side of the story, right? But, there [are] two sides to every story.”
According to his new book, Spare, Harry says that some insults were exchanged before William said that he wanted to “help” his brother. Harry said: “Are you serious? Help me? Sorry – is that what you call this? Helping me?”

Soon after, the Duke of Sussex tried to offer his brother a glass of water and that’s when all hell broke loose. He wrote, “He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”
So far Buckingham Palace has not made any comments about the matter. Spare hits bookshelves on January 10th.
