British Royal News: Prince William And Kate Middleton Slammed For Wasting Taxpayer Money On Kensington Palace Home
British Royal News suggests that some people might be none too pleased with Prince William and Kate Middleton’s decision to move their family from London to Windsor. That’s because of all the money they had previously spent in renovating their home at Kensington Palace might have gone to waste. At least, that’s what critics believe. Here’s what you need to know.
British Royal News: Prince William And Kate Middleton Slammed For Wasting Taxpayer Money On Kensington Palace Home
Royal expert and author Omid Scobie wrote on Twitter, “Despite spending over $5.4 million on turning Kensington Palace into a forever home, the Cambridges are leaving London this month for a new property in Windsor. Was it all a waste of Sovereign Grant funding?”
Of course, it didn’t take long at all for both royal fans and critics to weigh in on the matter. Many of them replied with, “They paid for it themselves. They loved there for about ten yrs. Not less then a yr. They are still FULL time working and will be using KP as offices to help support there charities, foundations and other works that benefit the people. KP also still brings in money from tourists,” along with, “No… they are not leaving KP… they are evolving as a family to live in a 3 bedroomed little cottage to be close to the children’s schools. Absolutely not a waste for our future King to nurture his family for the future of our wonderful monarchy.”
British Royal News: What’s Next For William and Kate?
Another critic wrote, “Isn’t it part of the crown estate, so therefore owned by the public? Same for Frogmore cottage. We have a royal family as head of state, non royal heads of state cost money and do refurbishments in other countries too – the alternate is not free!”
And then there was this comment, “Anmer hall is a private home owned by them outright, gifted by the queen. Kensington palace apartment will still be used, Adelaide cottage is a grace and favor home to be nearer queen and their new school with private grounds unlike KP.”
So far William and Kate have made no comments about the criticism.
