General Hospital spoilers gush as Port Charles prepares to bid a tearful farewell to Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson), GH fans are bracing for an emotional tribute to the iconic matriarch and her portrayer, who passed in January 2025.
Monica’s quiet death in her sleep, discovered by Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), sets the stage for a heartfelt funeral, but fans are hoping the focus stays on her strength and legacy, not the salacious or embarrassing moments of her past.
While recent chats between Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) and Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) beautifully highlighted Monica and Alan Quartermaine’s (Stuart Damon) enduring love — proving Lucy’s attempts to steal Alan failed because they were “meant for one another” — there are more scandalous chapters fans hope stay buried.
(And please, let’s not revisit that cringe-worthy Ned affair rumor!) Let’s unpack the sins of Monica’s past we’d rather forget!
The Rick Webber Affair Debacle
Monica’s early years were marked by a steamy affair with Rick Webber (Chris Robinson), which rocked her marriage to Alan and left fans wincing at the betrayal.
The messy love triangle — Monica falling for Rick while Alan stewed — culminated in heartbreak when Rick returned to Lesley Webber (Denise Alexander), leaving Monica humiliated and pregnant with A.J.
Quartermaine (Sean Kanan), her son she had hoped was Rick’s, not Alan’s. Fans dread a funeral flashback revisiting this scandal, especially since it painted Monica as a homewrecker before her redemption.
With Jason and Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) expected to give eulogies at her funeral, they’d rather hear about Monica’s hospital leadership than this soap opera low point. Let’s keep this affair in the vault, GH!
GH Spoilers Leak the Pierce Dorman Fling Fiasco
Monica’s fling with Dr. Pierce Dorman (Tuc Watkins) in the 1990s is another cringe fans hope stays buried. Her brief affair, sparked during a rough patch with Alan, led to public humiliation when Pierce’s obsessive behavior exposed their tryst.
The scandal tarnished Monica’s professional reputation at the hospital and strained family ties.
With Dr. Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) and Dr. Terry Randolph (Cassandra James) likely attending the funeral, fans don’t want this messy chapter overshadowing Monica’s medical legacy. Let’s focus on her triumphs, not this embarrassing detour!
The Cheating Heartbreak Courtesy of Alan
Alan’s infidelity with Susan Moore (Gail Ramsey), which produced Jason, was a punch to the gut for Monica that fans still wince over.
The betrayal — public and painful — humiliated Monica, forcing her to navigate Alan’s secret son while rebuilding their marriage.
Lucy’s recent reflection on failing to steal Alan proves Monica’s strength, but fans beg GH to skip rehashing this hurt. With Monica’s sister (Erika Slezak) possibly crashing the funeral, let’s celebrate Monica’s resilience, not her heartbreak.
The fans want Monica’s send-off to shine, not dwell on these scandals. Will GH honor Leslie Charleson’s legacy with grace, or dig up the dirt? What’s your hope for her farewell? Share your thoughts with us in the comments, and stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers just ahead.
Lucy has already brought up some of the so called dirt. – But what is being called dirt now was once presented as drama. If there weren’t skeletons in the closets and all the other not so acceptable behavior, there would be no interest in GH story telling, but at times writers just take things too far (i.e. Drew and all of his foolishness which never seems to end).
[…] Some even commented with, “Just like Lulu/Carly, Lulu/Michael used to be close once. As mentioned below, she was there when he awoke from his coma and then lived w/her and Dante once upon a long time ago. As a Spencer family fan, I’m glad to see these Spencer family relations coming back with AH as Lulu now.” […]
