The Young and the Restless spoilers say that either Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) takes his job very seriously or there are people out there who really want to get rid of Victor Newman, both on and off screen, if that makes any sense. The actor recently said that the “old regime” wanted to get rid of his character Victor on the show. And by “old regime,” there’s a very good chance that Eric is referring to the show’s former executive producer, Mal Young. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Eric Braeden Lashes Out At The Old ‘Regime’
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, Eric hints that the a few years ago there were some producers that wanted to take the soap in a different direction, and that direction was without Victor Newman in the forefront.
“What the last regime really wanted, to be frank with you, was to get rid of me and get rid of Melody [Thomas Scott, Nikki], if you want to know the truth.”
Apparently, this all came after Eric had pressed the writers at the time and asked, “When are we going to see Victor be Victor?”
In response, Eric said, “The last regime introduced things that no one gave a damn about, okay? Let’s call a spade a spade. No one gave a damn about some of those storylines, no one, because they were not part of the history of that show! I hate to say it, but obviously, the Newman empire is one of the main cornerstones of the show.”
The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Victor Is Here To Stay
Eric then continued, “You must remember that people who come onto the show as new executive producers have their own egos, and they think they can rewrite it, they can redo it all. What they don’t understand is that [Co-Creator/Former Head Writer] Bill Bell was a brilliant man who laid a very sound foundation, and if you want to veer away from that foundation, it will begin to flounder. That’s all I’m going to say.”
Thank goodness that “regime” is no longer in power, right?

i am so tired of you people pushing gay and lesbian story lines . i know they are around but i do not want to pay cable to see them kiss, etc. bring back the feud between the Abbots and Newman clan. what you are airing now makes people shut off the soap. get some new writers or new story lines what you are airing is not entertaining.
Victor is the heart of the show, If he goes you will loose a LOT of followers
Agree Victor is he show also what the hell is that stupid annoying ad doing covering part of the article really advertisers go somewhere to display your ads I an not interested and I sure neither are the other posters
Never ever ever take Victor and Nikki away. Mal Young and anyone else that wants to do that are idiots and you can quote me on that. Victor is the backbone of the show and unless he decides to retire he should always be there front and center.
It’s as simple as this: without Victor there is no Y&R. If he goes they might as well cancel the show. Like the saying goes: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
I love Victor Newman. The show wouldn’t be any good without him. I have watched the show my whole life and I am 79 and still watching. The person I don’t like on the show is Phyllis.
yes yes
It’s not Victor it’s the writing (writers). Victor is the backbone of the show, but he is falling short on his way of dealing with problems of today. In today’s times of the storylines, everything is a little slow and I mean slow. Somebody is writing and not reading the script, if you know what I mean. There is no plot to bring me back, each and every day, the little plots that they come up with are too long with no ending and not enough plots to keep me guessing. I am still waiting on Chelsea and Chloe to pay for their crime and are still plotting to cause trouble. Billy Boy Abbott is another one that there is no end to his storyline. The viewers are still waiting on Billy Boy to take some blame for his daughter’s death, Billy Boy and Victoria’s plot to bring down Adam, so she could give the Media Company to Billy Boy, Billy Boy and Summer sleeping together and Nick not knowing, Nick still thinks Summer is a Princess, just like his father, Victor thinks Victoria is one. Summer and Victoria are both spoiled brats. I am sure some viewers could think of more. Something needs to end and the writers need to start a new chapter with plots that keep me wanting to come back everyday. I am getting pretty tired of what is happening now, the plots are too long with no action or ending. And for pete’s sake do something with Sally’s snooping. Kinda tacky for people of today to listen to your boss through a closed door.
Victor is the CORNERSTONE. Of Y & R . Without him no show . He’s strong , powerful man who protects his family to the end. It’s fun to watch his storylines unfold and they get solved with his power and go on in fair time. Storylines aren’t dragged out for months and year like Days of Our Lives (awful )
Victor and Niki & family must stay .
Well if they get rid of Victor be alot us us stop watching the soap/Victor is heart of the show, please leave him on there won’t be worth watching if he & Micheal go, they r 2 best……………..
