General Hospital news says that the viewers have spoken, and they’ve made it pretty clear that they want to see Jason Morgan back in Port Charles, regardless if he’s dead or alive. This comes after reports that said the producers of the hit ABC daytime television show won’t recast the character now that Steve Burton is no longer with the soap. That’s because both he and his former co-star Ingo Rademacher (Jasper Jacks) refused to comply with the network’s vaccine mandate against COVID-19. Here’s what you need to know.

General Hospital viewers say they want to see Steve Burton back, and only Steve Burton. That, and they’ve also pointed out that Jason Morgan is tied to so many character storylines, that he needs to come back in some shape or form. Getting rid of the character completely, according to both fans and critics, simply doesn’t make sense.
Many of Steve Burton’s and General Hospital fans have taken to their social media accounts to express just how they feel about all of this. Some comments have so far included, “Steve Burton IS Jason Morgan. I have been a loyal follower of GH only since Steve Burton was brought back to reprise the role after the producers tried to replace him. I have no interest in continuing to watch now that Mr .Burton is gone,” along with, “I know Steve will be back in time! General Hospital will never be the same without him and the producers know it! There are so many actors on General Hospital that have been on for many years and they also make the show great! Don’t give up hope! We love Steve and Pray for his return soon!”

I too have watched since day one and am a loyal fan, not of just one actor but of the show. Steve Burton is a great actor and loved as Jason, BUT he’s not the entire show. So I don’t see how you can say you won’t watch anymore if he’s not brought back. I too think they should bring him back but if everyone else has complied with the rules, he shouldn’t be an exception for the protection of everyone. Just saying. We’ve put up with a lot worse (bad storylines and the like) and have lived thorough it. Don’t get me wrong, I like him but won’t stop watching if he’s not brought back

Not everyone believes in the vaccine. Some people are allergic to the ingredients and others can’t vaccinate for health reasons. Also there are others who don’t vaccinate for religious reasons. Freedom of religion is right there in our Constitution. I am NOT an antivaxer but I don’t believe in a vaccine thet was developed in such a short time. I love Steve Burton as Jason. I always have. I use to watch ALL the soaps with my Grandmother growing up but only GH stuck with me. I understand Steve and respect his decision but please please please don’t write out Jason. He means so much to so many storylines and to fans like myself. Even though it’s a soap my heart still breaks for Carly and Britt. Hasn’t Carly been through enough loss? And Britt going from Villan to someone who has a heart and finally opened it again and was starting to be a better person and she looses the 1st man that softened her heart. I’ve cried and just wanted to hug both of them every scene they were in. Come on guys let Jason come home to people who love him so much. When the mandate is lifted then have Steve come back to us. No one should be forced into what is to be put in their body. It’s their body and their choice. Just like certain people it goes against their religious beliefs to not get the vaccine just like all the illegals that they are allowing into the country and it goes against their beliefs. 2 great actors have been fired because of the jab. Why should any workplace be able to take away their rights in America? GH you need to step up and back your employees rights. I have watched GH for as long as i can remember. I always loved the character of Alexis but seriously she needs to go. Nancy Grahn talks about Ingo being insulting but I have seen her post really nasty comments about anyone who voted for Trump. I am all about freedom of speech but that goes for everyone, not just the ones she deems worthy. I’ve been watching since the beginning. I’m 62 now the show isn’t the same without him. We learned this the last time he left. He is the only one to play Jason Morgan. Bringing him back as Jadon Q is a good idea and after the collapse it would be believable that he remember who he was. They need to let his character and Drew have time to get to know each other as twins.. I think ratings will drop significantly if they don’t bring him back. Everyone loves him. So please reconsider your decision. We could really do without Alexis. She has no real storyline that would be missed. But Jadon has several great ones going and need to be continued. Plus there’s been to many deaths. And Donny gone for 9 months drive everyone crazy. As soon as he gets back you get rid of Jadon that just doesn’t fit right with me and many other viewers. He’s one of the best actors on the show. He’s why you have so many viewers. And why you win so many awards. Please bring him back. Even if he has to be tested on a regular basis. There is no replacing Steve Burton as Jason Morgan. GH tried that once and it was a disaster. Maurice Bernard said there is only one Jason Morgan and that is Steve Burton. I was looking forward to seeing the relationship between Drew and Jason. Camron and Steve have a personal friendship and you can see it in their characters. Steve and Kelly ( Jason and Britt) also are well matched. I have watched GH for 50 years and looked forward to seeing what Jason was up to each day. ABC knows that Steve Burton is very important to GH. They will figure out some way to bring Steve Burton back.

My views are very simple – no Steve Burton, no Jason Morgan. Period. (And I am a GH viewer of 43 years!) From what I have seen and read on/at other GH sites, if a recast is attempted there is going to be a MASS exit of fans and it WILL show up in the overall ratings. Steve Burton has had and recovered from Covid which reportedly gives him natural ammunities. There is NO reason that he can’t continue playing Jason should he agree to either have weekly testing (keeping in mind that many of the PRC tests give false results) and/or wear a mask until actual taping is being done.
Either Jason comes back to GH, or we refuse to watch our favorite soap, we have watched since the 60’s and are pretty irate that you pushed him out like he didn’t exist all these years, which is the worst thing you could have done to this number one soap. Thank you!!! I 100% agree with you! I love Jason’s character, but I can’t even look at Steve Burton anymore. His applications for religious and medical exemptions were obviously fraudulent, and frankly, that for that alone he should be ashamed. As you pointed out, he defied the rules; he made his choice. Nancy Lee Grahn has every right to express her opinions, just as Steve Burton and Ingo Redamacher (sp) did by refusing to get the vaccine. By the way, I got a refund for the February Stone Cold and the Jackal show in NYC. The audience needs to be vaccinated, but Steve Burton doesn’t? Ridiculous! I will try not to judge his “my body, my choice” (I won’t make this political and bring up Roe v Wade) stance, but am bitterly disappointed in the backlash. He made a choice which is so clearly upsetting to many of his fans, and in my opinion has him playing Russian roulette with other people’s lives, including his kids. As much as I hate seeing Jason gone, and as much as I disagree with his decision, it’s over. Move on. To his whining fans…don’t be hypocritical. He made his choice. Respect it. (And again, just my opinion… everyone is entitled to one, good riddance!)

I left General hospital once for 15 years and I’m getting ready to do it again. Jason Morgan has to be played by Steve Burton. He is an extremely important cast member. Why can’t he just be tested before he is on the show? I am vaccinated but I believe people may not feel like me. Some just don’t trust the vaccine. Some just don’t trust the government.
General Hospital will not be the same without Jason Morgan. He and Sonny have carried this soap thru some very rough times and Jason deserves recognition by the producers for his contributions the success of this show. Please bring him back.

Now that the Supreme Court has ruled that the mandate is unconstitutional, the network and producers can back down and lift that requirement. Although I have been fully vaccinated and have had the booster, Steve Burton has the antibodies in his body and biweekly COVID rapid testing should be a viable solution. Taking anyone’s livelihood for not being vaccinated is a poor choice. ABC should be ashamed of their mandate.

I have nothing against SB but I’m not a fan of Jason Morgan. The issue here is the mandate and if he can’t comply then he deserved to be fired, no excuses. I don’t care whether or not the actor is replaced. I actually loved BM in the role of Jason but I understand how Jason fans feel because in my eyes Billy Miller was Jason to me and I didn’t like it when SB came back and reclaimed the role. but then I grew to love BM as Drew so he is drew to me. and although I like Cameron Mathison he isn’t drew, not for me, I call him fake drew. So i totally get why SB fans don’t want him replaced, but the character of Jason is needed and if SB can’t comply then he should be replaced.

I think that the firing of Steve Burton was a really bad mistake on their part as he is one of the most popular characters among GH Fans & if they recall the 1st time that Steve Burton left the show there was a decline in ratings that yr & they were no longer the top rating Daytime Soap on air. They had a slight increase of female viewers when Billy Miller stepped in to be a Jason replacement & while he is a great actor he wasn’t the real Jason. Some people were okay with that but the viewers who had been watching GH since Steve Burton became Jason Quartermaine fell in love with him & has watched him grow up before their eyes & seen him become Jason Morgan after his wreck with his brother AJ & then he was hired by mob boss Sonny Corinthoes & became his friend & right hand man!
When Steve Burton came back to claim His spot as the real Jason Morgan there was a huge spike in GHs ratings because the writers finally listened to their fans & bought him back. As pointed out Jason has so many storylines & connections with almost everyone’s characters! & to let him go creates a big void now even though Drew is back it’s Not going to be the same without him!! I definitely want him back!
Kason had shot #1 and then he had Covid. That is better than being fully vaccinated in terms of spreading the virus. Firing him over this is absolutely absurd and unjust. I work in the medical field myself and am around this everyday. General Hospital has always been my guilty pleasure (I DVR daily) but I am considering not watching anymore after 30+ years over this ridiculousness. Give him his job back or risk being cancelled by loss of ratings. Then y’all gonna be looking for work. Hows that gonna help anyone?

I was devastated when Steve chose to leave. I still watched some, for Elizabeth’s character… although she is rarely in many stories, anymore. Liason is my all time fave. Now Steve has been let go! I have stopped watching… I may watch the ones with Elizabeth, if I can find the 10 seconds her and there! I agree that Nancy should be the one to go! Not a fan of Alexis any longer! This is America! Go Steve! Hoping for Jason’s return and ALSO a return for Jason and Elizabeth! The greatest love story never told….💔

I actually was digging the chemistry between Jason and Carly before Smike came back. And now that I have had a chance to see the new version, I’m pretty sure Jason would rock Carly’s world better. I was so pissed that Sonny came back before Jason and Carly got to really have a proper wedding night lol!!!

Don’t think our comments mean anything but Steve got COVID while on set meaning someone at work had it did they lose their job. Second Nancy/Alexis has too much to say about all this COVID stuff instead of mandated shots they should live by our freedom of choice & if Nancy/Alexis doesn’t want to be around the ones not vaccinated don’t do scenes with them. As for Jax he may be a different story where he made some remarks he shouldn’t of about transgender actors/actress which made other cast members to speak out on behalf of the transgender cast mate who is their friend. But I 100% feel that our American rights are being taken away one at a time, they started with the seat belt law & now it’s get the shot or get punished!
For anyone to lose their jobs, their livelihood and their means of supporting their families over a “vaccine” that clearly is no more reliable than the flu shot considering I alone have many friends who have contracted the virus AFTER being “fully vaccinated” is wrong on so many levels. The people who chose not to vaccinate are not the “spreaders in the room” in this scenario as many are trying to make them out to be. Although the far left, who seem to believe only their opinions and beliefs matter, to the point of being obtuse, rude and downright mean, are pushing that narrative. Nancy Lee Grahn definitely comes to mind here, as others have mentioned. I preferred the days before I attempted to follow her on social media when I could just appreciate her talent for acting. When I realized through Instagram and Twitter how she treats people who have political beliefs that may not mirror hers I couldn’t hit the unfollow button fast enough. Our differences are what SHOULD make this life more interesting. She goes at people like she’s gearing up for war if they don’t think EXACTLY the way she does. Obviously small-minded people seriously irritate me, and I try to avoid negativity, so I stopped following her. Completely lost respect for her, so if she is on screen or off, it no longer matters to me. Then you have Steve Burton. Steve obviously goes through life being positive, trying to help people get on a healthy path, trying to spread positivity and the importance of being grateful for even our smallest everyday blessings in this life. GH has (HOPEFULLY TEMPORARILY) lost SO much more than Jason Morgan in losing Steve Burton =( . And losing Jason Morgan alone, is a huge, HUGE blow to the show in my opinion. I’ve been watching since 1980. I don’t want to see him replaced with another actor, even temporarily. I loved Billy Miller as Drew but Jason he was NOT and was never going to be. There is one Jason Morgan and that is Steve Burton, PERIOD. Some have said everyone is replaceable, but I absolutely do not agree. Remember when they brought in Janine Turner as Laura Templeton to try to “smooth over” the loss of Genie Francis in 1982? There wasn’t another actress on earth that could have smoothed over that loss. Some people, like Genie and Steve, are absolutely irreplaceable.
Well I will start by saying this, I have watch this show for 30 years now. So many of the good characters have been let go and have made me very upset. But I love Steve Burton and don’t even know if I want to watch it anymore. I’ll def stop if Maurice is fired or taken off. The show will not be watchable for me without those 2!

I have been watching General Hospital since I was in High School. The producers are being absolutely ridulous toward the both of them. We are human beings that have freedom of our rights and how we feel. The covid shots you can get them and still get it no matter what. How can someone force another human being to do something that doesn’t necessarily work always. Let them go back to work where they belong and where they are loved. This is where they are the best at what they do for us. If you are any type of good producers you would see that the world is still going and doing everything it can to protect everyone. Just because you took out two people doesn’t mean your show no will never happen so you can’t just blame them it’s just life itself. I love this show but since the producers took them out I seriously really don’t want to watch it anymore, I’m starting to watch other programs. You can thank them for that. You better figure something out fast or your going to loose a lot of viewers. Wise up producers!!!!
This mandate is wrong and Steve Burton and Indio should not super for it. Unless your Congress and staff gets included in it then NO company should force an employee to get the vaccine. The decisions that have been made lately w/ the pairings & the storylines are horrendous & a slap in the face to us who have been watching for all these yrs! You seem to think we’ve forgotten the history & legacy of this epic soap & the love of the couples! Now firing SB was a mistake but breaking up JaSam to begin with was the downfall! You need to bring him back & back to Sam so that your ratings go back up you’ll notice the JaSam fan base start to watch again. If you don’t do that you may as well NOT bring him back because having him w/faisons nauseating one night stand psycho daughter is disgusting! First there is no true vaccination on the market. A real vaccination would virtually wipe it off the face of the earth, much like polio. I have GH since i was in college (many years ago) i quit watching the first time Jason (Steve Burton) was killed and did not start again until he was back onscreen. If he’s gone i will definitely NOT be watching

SB didn’t make the show, he hasn;t had a good storyline since he was with Sam, I’m talking about before the kids came along, since then all he does is stand behind Sonny showing his muscles, not talking or smiling, no personality, he can go, recast with someone who can talk and have a personality

As a long time viewer, Over 35 yrs. How about remove Alexis as her storylines aren’t fan favorites. She probably pushed for Steve Burton’s firing, he had Covid, his antibodies are better than the vaccine. This is just crazy he was fired! Their should be a hold on making decisions on someone’s livelihood until the CDC and the Fed Govt know how the heck to advise. It changes daily. ABC/ Disney get with making exception for those who have already endured the virus, Jason is too important to the show. Jax will be missed too but I don’t know his circumstances.
I think that since Steve Burton has already had covid , can’t the show’s producers have Steve take a daily or weekly covid test? He is an integral part of the show. Since he supposedly died there have been so many conversations about him, so I hope this means that he will be back shortly.

I can’t believe how so many people say bad things about Steve not getting the vaccine. Stop and think about this, maybe, just maybe the Govt is not giving the vaccine out to stop the covid but they are chipping everyone to keep tabs on them. So many people get covid after getting the vaccine. And alot of people are losing faith in the govt. Steve could be the smart one. And I gave up the soap without him. You really need to bring Jason back. The show is suffering without him. And the woman working for victor insults people’s intelligence, who talks about important police work in the hallways? I still love the show but it needs to get more interesting.
I stopped watching the show as soon as Steve Burton left, it just isn’t interesting without Jason, Sam, Sonny, and Carly dynamic, stopped watching every time Steve Burton left and came back every time he came back, I’d check back in each week because of Tyler Christopher (Nikolas Cassidine) but with both those actors gone GH just isn’t worth it
