Critics Tear Into Meghan Markle’s Christmas Special — Is With Love, Meghan Finished?

Meghan Markle’s ‘With Love, Meghan’ is here and as expected, there’s some rather strong thoughts and opinions associated with it. In the special, the Duchess hosted a number of special guests, shared some family traditions, and generally tried her best to embody the liveliness expected from a blossoming lifestyle influencer.
With that in mind, here’s what the critics had to say about it.
Meghan Markle’s Christmas Special Was Hard To Stomach, One Critic Blasts
Meghan Markle did not make any critic friends with her Christmas special. Not even Prince Harry’s speaking appearance was enough to dampen the flaws of the so-called Christmas special.
Writing for The Telegraph, Arts and Entertainment Editor Anita Singh gave it a one star, sharing, “Meghan, as ever, tries way too hard. The programme is quite mad and a little bit sad.”
But if this was the harshest criticism Meghan received for the special, it would have been the luckiest escape. But it wasn’t, because Writer Hannah Ewens doubled up on the one-star for The Independent, describing it as a “predictably insipid festive special.”
Ewens said: “It’s not a real special by any stretch, but some YouTube content or the radio that you might put on in the background as you do your tree or wrap your presents. White noise to dull the senses. It’s all a little Stepford Wives; not informative, fun, enjoyable or even aspirational. Because the people watching this, including me, will never have a Christmas like this.”
The Guardian’s TV critic Lucy Mangan was a little less harsh and awarded it two stars. However, she warned that you need anti-nausea pills to be able to stomach the whole thing.
She said: “I would advise any viewers who are British, not in the acting profession and/or not married to the Duchess of Sussex to take as many anti-emetics as medically advisable, then assume the crash position. I feel both offended and harmed, but in the spirit of goodwill, I will add a star to my rating in gratitude for the fact that at least we are safe now until next year.”
In light of these harsh criticisms, and generally low ratings, many are expecting the Christmas special to be the end of Meghan’s Netflix cooking show, ‘With Love, Meghan.’
