The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Victor Turns the Tables as Matt’s Overconfidence Comes Back to Bite Him
The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) decided to go after the Newmans for reasons that aren’t fully clear.
It appears the affair between Noah Newman (Lucas Adams) and Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun) set Matt off, but it could be that he set up that scenario.
Why would someone who was believed to be dead for nearly a quarter-century decide to seek out Noah in Europe?
With whatever motivation proves true, Matt’s plan to punish Noah, Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) didn’t consider the evergreen element of this family. His name is Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).
Matt Clark Is Back From The Dead
The multilevel game Matt’s playing didn’t begin when Y&R shifted to a split setting. As the audience has learned, Noah was approached by Matt at the club he heads in Europe.
They became supposed friends, and Matt invited Noah to visit The Shadow Room in LA, with the pretense of mentoring him. Noah and Sienna’s connection at that point in the revealed plot hasn’t been fully explained.
Matt was last seen in the early 2000s, after another daytime veteran (Rick Hearst) became the recast. That edition of the character had radical plastic surgery that changed his appearance, with Hearst’s edition calling himself Carter Mills.
An attempt was made to frame Nick for Matt’s claimed murder. Morrow’s character beat that false charge, but everyone in GC and the viewers believed, since then, that Matt was dead.
Why Was Los Angeles, California, Chosen?
Many Genoa City, Wisconsin, residents flew to Los Angeles, California, in recent weeks. It became clear why this setting was chosen when Howarth’s debut happened, and Sharon recognized him as her former boyfriend.
Placing Matt in LA drew the targets to his turf. He would have been recognized in GC if some other revenge plot had been created.
Using Noah as a lure to attract Sharon and Nick was clever. Yet, Matt can’t possibly have forgotten about Victor. That flaw in his scheme is about to create dire consequences.
Victor Newman Still Holds Sway
Longtime fans know that Victor is mature, which is a respectful way of saying that he, like anyone, has aged. Braeden’s character is often shown in a seated position, but his mind is as sharp as ever, as Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) can attest.
No one is going to go after any Newman family member without Victor’s response. So, Victor decided to take a trip to LA after hearing the concern offered in the Thanksgiving voicemail Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) left for Nick.
Victor’s calm stroll into The Shadow Room, where Matt and Detective Burrow (Matt Cohen) are present, forces this storyline forward. With Noah and Sienna being held hostage and Nick and Sharon sent on a wild, soapy goose chase, the trajectory had to change. Victor’s entrance into the plot changes Matt’s game.
