Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, actor Don Diamont, who plays Bill Spencer on the hit CBS soap, says that there’s a reason why Bill took off his infamous sword necklace in the first place. He tells the publication, “Well, things didn’t quite turn out as he hoped [laughs]. With putting it back on, it is protection from his emotions, protection from hurt, from everything that hurt him in his adolescence that made him who he is. It’s many things.”
Of course, many The Bold and the Beautiful fans sure had a lot to say about the matter on social media. Some comments have included, “It should have been Donna, not Brooke, who Bill had his affair with. That would have been a juicier storyline to have Katie turn on Donna, and have it remind her of the time Rocco and Donna got together. THAT would have been a payoff on the history of their dynamic. But, no…. Bradley Bell had to prop Katherine Kelly Lang’s Brooke and push the slut narrative,” along with, “He only ever wants Katie when he can’t have Brooke (or Steffy for that matter). Please, B&B he needs to move on too. And the way DD was describing things I thought $Bill was going to actually get a real storyline where he has to face something real that we care about, like cancer… but no. We get another tired love triangle.”
The Bold and the Beautiful Spoilers: What’s Next For Bill Spencer?
Another critic wrote, “His character is kind of painted into a corner, and a rut. Something needs to happen. Maybe he can hook up with Sheila in her costume? But where’s the payoff with that? Maybe a masquerade party and he hooks up with Donna, she thinks he’s Eric, he thinks she’s Brooke? (reminiscent of Brooke and Oliver) In a drunken stupor he then drives off and maims fat old Wyatt who needs extensive surgery and wakes up as someone hot.”
