The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Sharon Hits a Nerve as Phyllis Struggles After Kidnapping

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Martin Laurent (Christopher Cousins) was taken to jail a year ago. Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) appears to have dealt with him, having kidnapped her, but as she pointed out, it seems like Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) has unresolved emotions.

The storyline where Traci Abbott’s (Beth Maitland) love, Alan Laurent’s (Cousins in a dual role), death was unknown proved to be intense. Martin fell out of a second-story window when battling with his twin brother. Alan was believed to have survived, but as was later revealed, he perished.

Martin fooled everyone. While doing so, he also captured and held Sharon and Phyllis hostage in an abandoned mental health facility. One of the great elements of that tale was the unexpected bond that Case’s and Stafford’s characters formed.

Kidnapping Bond Holds Through Today

While they’re not as close as they were after surviving the kidnapping, Sharon and Phyllis maintain an unbreakable bond. Martin took bent credit for producing that result, but both ladies refused to acknowledge that victory when the late Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) put him in the prison visitor’s room with his victims, and he admitted his guilt.

Phyllis has been reeling ever since. She distracted herself by pursuing Cane Ashby’s (Billy Flynn) Genoa City, Wisconsin, takeover ploy.

However, Sharon lambasted her for wronging the Newman family by stealing Newman Enterprises. Phyllis disagrees and continues to point to Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) and Jack Abbott’s (Peter Bergman) many wrongs.

Is Sharon Newman Using A Double Standard?

What Phyllis is openly asserting has to be considered. Why should Victor be allowed to behave like a rogue, and Jack’s many responses to his attacks be viewed as justified behavior?

Phyllis pulled off the arguably greatest coup in the history of this fabled Midwestern city. She outwitted the man, Cane, who flummoxed Victor, and then used the latest doomsday technology, artificial intelligence, to literally steal Newman Enterprises from the Moustache.

Victor’s exit from Newman Towers confirmed that Phyllis won the battle. No one would have ever put money on her doing that, but she did.

She asserts that people think boys will be boys, but she can not play in their sandbox. Sharon has experienced that attitude, but also rightly says that Phyllis rationalizing the reactions of her children demonstrates that she’s not on the right course in her life.

Phyllis Summers Makes A Wise Choice

To her credit, Phyllis knows that she won. But she wants to secure her victory by adding a seasoned business mind to what she has rebranded as Summers Conglomerate.

Having Lauren Fenmore Baldwin (Tracey Bregman) join the party is smart. Bregman’s character may have surprised the audience when she agreed to do so, but she, like Phyllis, is responding to hard feelings for Victor.

It seems like Phyllis’ run won’t be as short as Victor believes. Yet, devoted fans must think that order must eventually be restored in GC.
