She just can’t seem to convince herself that it’s anywhere in the realm of okay for her to be falling for her best friend’s husband — even if said bestie friend is “done” with him.
Maxie Jones’ (Kirsten Storms) decision to stay with Damien Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) surprised some while it thrilled others.
But sooner or later, Lulu may have to come clean with Maxie, because it doesn’t look like Nathan is going to be laying back and letting her go anytime soon. Will Lulu’s transparency cause Maxie to see something in Nathan that she didn’t before?
Maxie Made Her Choice
Of course, it’s reasonable that Maxie might have made this decision in haste. She only just woke up from six months in a coma.
While we’re used to her being the type of woman who always knows what she wants, she didn’t really give herself any time to acclimate to being around Nathan again before deciding that being with him isn’t what she wanted.
Perhaps she made the choice that she did out of an abundance of love for Spinelli — the person she is certain of because she can be. Nathan is an unknown after all these years, but her perception of him, and her feelings for him, could change as she starts to re-integrate back into her life with him in it.
Nathan Won’t Back Down
Lulu might be dragging her feet on whether or not she thinks she and Nathan should explore their feelings with each other, but it seems like he’s not going to be keen on even giving her much room to make that decision for herself.
Last week, we saw how he responded to Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) — his own mother — when she dared to tell him Maxie was the right person for him to be with.
Nathan has eyes for Lulu, and it’s almost as though he never wanted to get back with Maxie in the first place. Point blank: he’s not going away, and neither are Lulu’s feelings for him. But what about how Maxie feels?
A Lose-Lose Situation
If Lulu and Nathan get together, it’s going to cause a dramatic shift in everyone’s lives, and that’s probably why Lulu is stalling. There’s nothing quite like jealousy to turn someone’s cheek in the other direction though.
Maxie may truly love Spinelli, and she may genuinely desire to continue building a life with him — even to the extent that she jumped the gun on making her choice before she could have second thoughts.
