Instead, Claire went to him as a cover. She’s determined to follow through on the lead Sienna Bacall (Tamara Braun) gave her regarding the art gallery owner who is connected to Audra Cortes (Zuleyka Silver).
Viewers know that Holden accidentally killed him while defending Audra at The Shadow Room years ago. They’re determined to keep that secret between them, but Claire is bound to unearth the truth.
Improperly Burying A Body After An Accidental Death
Holden panicked after he confirmed that the man who was threatening Audra was dead. Novak’s character intervened when that guy came to the bar looking for her because she’d stolen a half-million-dollar check from him.
Audra created the problem, and Holden was in the wrong place at the right time, depending upon perspective. It was good for Audra because Holden likely saved her from physical harm or worse.
But it was bad timing for Holden because the man died after he was struck with a punch, fell, hit his head on the bar, and then hit the floor. They proceeded to bury the body in the desert, with Claire appointing herself as the detective in charge of this missing person’s case.
Holden Novak Wants Claire Newman To Learn The Truth?
It feels like Holden wants Claire with him in LA so he can build his relationship with her. One way to accomplish that is by allowing her to learn the truth independently, away from Genoa City, Wisconsin.
If the above happens, Holden will have time and space to potentially influence her reaction. He can tell her that using that information against Audra will likely result in him being arrested and jailed for an unreported death and burial that will look like a covered murder.
However, Holden’s conscious or subconscious gamble could quickly go south in the west. Claire might not learn all that happened and assume whatever happened is only tied to Audra, which would create major problems for Holden.
Audra Cortes Hurt By Bad Reputation
Audra’s defenses are almost always up. She’s dropped them for certain people, including Holden, Noah Newman (Lucas Adams), Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic), and Amy Lewis (Valarie Pettiford), but something always went wrong with those personal connections.
The vibe she exudes is self-promoting, and everyone sees through her eventually. Nate, more than anyone, had the most positive impact on Audra, reaching her heart and causing it to open more than viewers had seen before.
But Nate’s realization that he couldn’t trust Audra ended their relationship. She’s still reeling from that break and soon will face whatever trouble Claire is bound to stir. Audra’s needless fight with Erin’s character is the basis of that grudge.
