Ridge didn’t know that he would walk in on his multiple-time ex-wife, who is the mother of most of his children, and her new romantic interest. Though she returned serve with the arguably most intense noun in existence, love.
Does Taylor love Deacon, or is he a rebound crush? Steffy and Ridge are certain that Deacon has manipulated Budig’s lovelorn character, with viewers knowing that both halves of this potentially new couple share equal responsibility for the soapy storyline they are pursuing.
Taylor Hayes Should Keep Her Office Door Locked
Taylor could have avoided Deacon’s going to her office and entering on multiple unscheduled occasions, which led to him being able to explore his feelings or what he thinks is love at a slower pace. That didn’t happen, and it was full daytime steam ahead.
This world-renowned psychiatrist could have avoided Sheila Carter Sharpe’s (Kimberlin Brown) pop-ins. It’s possible that if she’d done that, Budig’s character would feel less guilty than she does.
The good doctor could have avoided Steffy confronting her at the office, which could have prevented her daughter from learning so quickly what was developing with Deacon. This could have given Taylor more time to process this unexpected scenario without being pressured by her daughter.
Plus, Ridge wouldn’t have busted in on Taylor and Deacon if she’d kept her door locked. That confrontation could have been avoided, assuming all the others would have happened, which led to Steffy prompting her dad to put a stop to Taylor’s latest romantic effort.
Ridge Forrester Cares But Is Hypocritical
Ridge didn’t want Deacon around Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) many years ago. That effort failed, and Hope Logan Spencer (Annika Noelle) eventually came into the world.
As devoted viewers recall, Ridge ended his engagement to Taylor last year. As fans also know, he never should have agreed to remarry.
Taylor felt insecure and blurted out a marriage offer that Ridge accepted on impulse. Kaye’s character believed that Brooke was a lost cause at that time in the plot, which is why he intended to go along with Taylor’s plan.
However, after dropping Taylor and returning to remarry Brooke for a remarkable eighth time, with their initial nuptial meaning they have nine marriages on the books, he has no authority to tell his ex-fiance what to do.
Deacon Sharpe Has No Leverage
Steffy and Ridge can threaten Deacon now. All they need to do is tell him that Sheila will be informed about what he’s been doing with Taylor.
Deacon will calculate that his opponents also stand to lose if they reveal his connection with Taylor. Yet, he’ll likely fear for her well-being. That should give him pause or potentially cause him to break from her.
Yet, the audience must believe that Sheila will become the last person to know the truth. The order of soapy operations won’t matter by then, with everyone on both sides of the screen wondering how she’ll respond or if a curveball is coming, with a reference to the start of baseball’s spring training in a matter of days, and the timing of this climax potentially coinciding.
