Ever a threat, she was last seen after committing murder and then reverting to an apparent state of frozen mentality.
Devoted fans know that she’s only been married to one man in her life. Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) was with Patty on two separate occasions, first in the early 1980’s and then in 2010. But both nuptials ended badly,
More recently, Patty was connected to the notorious Ian Ward (Ray Wise), who is assumed dead.
Viewers know that Wise’s character was apparently a projection in Mariah Copeland’s (Camryn Grimes), but was also last seen alive while being transported to the morgue after Victor Newman (Eric Newman) shot him during an exchange of fire at the Newman Ranch’s main house.
Paul Williams’ Sister Has Long Been Troubled
Devotees of this enduring soap opera would love it if Patty’s brother returned to town as well. But that might not be in the daytime cards.
Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) hasn’t been seen on screen since 2020. The actor’s contract wasn’t renewed in what remains a head-shaking decision.
Davidson debuted on Y&R in 1978. His seemingly indelible status suddenly changed toward the end of his run, which was more than four decades later.
His character was last said to have suffered a heart attack after learning that Heather Stevens (Vail Bloom) was murdered.
Ian Ward Murdered Heather Stevens
Patty’s return to town might be to avenge the death of her niece. However, if she isn’t aware of her former friend’s fingerprints on that gruesome crime, then Haiduk’s character could eventually learn the truth.
Viewers last saw Ian providing Patty with a fake identity and plane ticket to Europe, where Paul was said to be living after his divorce from the now-Christine Romalotti (Lauralee Bell).
So, Ian’s return to Mariah’s mind could be the teaser that serves to reintroduce Wise’s villainous character for real.
Ian murdered Heather as part of his plot to frame Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) when attempting to stir trouble for the Newmans. But he was eventually revealed as the murderer.
That event was part of an ongoing series of assaults Sharon has faced, which has included a final confrontation with and killing of Cameron Kirsten (Linden Ashby) and Matt Clark’s (Roger Howarth) recent comeback and current jailing.
Patty Williams Is One Of The All-Time Greats
Haiduk is a three-time Daytime Emmy nominee. She was nominated twice for her work on Days of Our Lives, 2022 and 2023, for portraying Kristen DiMera and Susan Banks.
The actor, whose career debut came in the 1987 film Magic Sticks, where she played a laundromat lady, has always delivered a highly compelling take on Patty.
Haiduk, the fifth actor to have played this role since Tammy Taylor was the initial casting in 1980, joined Y&R in 2009 and was part of the show through 2016.
