In the early years since Megxit, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle struggled to build a brand that existed entirely outside of the spectrum of the overreaching British Royal Family.
However, due to their early fixation on airing their royal grievances, it more or less became so needlessly tangled in their brand that the Sussex couple were forced to undergo multiple rebrands.
Yes, even though they haven’t entirely shed the last vestiges of their royal past or turned over a clean slate, they’ve at least come to the point where they won’t need to fear the thought that their brand is being overshadowed by their royal connections.
As a result of this, while Meghan’s Sundance Debut has a lot of the pomp, it had none of the royal factor. Cookies anyone?
Meghan Markle Wanted To Honor Girlhood With Latest Project
Meghan Markle is entering the next stage of her life, and it involves focusing on topics and industries she was once affiliated with or have accumulated a lifetime of knowledge in.
The As Ever founder, once a Girl Scout herself, can personally relate to the beautiful experience of that time-honored tradition.
“Yes, it’s probably the cutest film at the festival. But I’m also going to go out on a limb and say it’s one of the most powerful and meaningful depictions of an American tradition,” Meghan Markle told the audience at the Sundance debut of ‘Cookie Queens’ on Jan. 24.
Spearheaded by Meghan Markle and produced by Archewell Productions, the documentary follows four Girl Scouts during cookie-selling season.
She reminded her audience that there’s more to Girl Scouts “selling Thin Mints and Samoas,” by sharing that it defines a core “girlhood experience” and “all the layers and complexities that come with that.”
“So yes, it’s cute, and yes, these young ladies are fantastic and adorable, but they are also layered, beautiful girls who are about to become very strong leaders and young women,” Meghan added.
Sundance programmer Stephanie Owens further praised the project, saying that it basically represents the future of our society, “think future Supreme Court justices, CEOs and beyond.”
