General Hospital Spoilers: Could Sonny and Nina’s Relationship Evolve Again This Year?

General Hospital spoilers report Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) have been divorced for about a year now, and the whole of GH’s viewership seems to feel they’re better off for it.

I’m in agreement, because not only was Nina lying to him their whole relationship, but they were rather boring as a couple and the suspense of waiting for the truth to come out was the only thing that kept us tuned into them.

Still, Maurice recently weighed in on what he thinks is headed Sonny’s way this year, and some of us were surprised to hear he is expecting love for the mob boss.

Given that District Attorney Justine Turner (Nazneen Contractor) is playing him and not truly as interested as she acts, it’s not likely that things between them turn into something more.

Without any other women in his orbit right now, some of us are wondering if there is an opening for Nina to come back around and score herself a second chance.

Their Old Problems Have Resolved

Back in the day, Nina and Sonny being together created a lot of conflict for their families. Sure, these days, Michael Corinthos (Rory Gibson) doesn’t exactly love Nina, nor vice versa.

But Nina being with Sonny would be less problematic now that there is no issue with her being around Wiley and Ameila Corinthos (Viron Weaver, Sequoia and Serenity Mork Macko).

Thus, she would be less of a burden to Sonny, too. Still, given the nature of Michael’s relationship with Willow Tait Cain (Katelyn MacMullen) right now, he might question his father’s sanity if he barks up that tree at a time like this.

GH Spoilers Spill Carly Couldn’t Care Less

There is no doubt that Carly Spencer (Laura Wright) would have plenty to say if Sonny suddenly decided to try again with Nina.

But to be fair, how many times has he come back around and tried again with Carly? She should understand Sonny’s penchant for rebound romances and reboots galore better than anyone.

But Carly loathes Nina and would hate to see Sonny risk his relationship with Michael all over again. Plus, this father and son duo aren’t exactly feeling each other right now since Sonny put Michael on the spot about his potential role in Drew Cain’s (Cameron Mathison) shooting.

Nina Needs Somebody

Nina hasn’t had a good love interest since she was enjoying random daytime romps with Congressman Cutthroat.

So she might be every bit as overdue for love as Maurice Benard claims Sonny is. But while desperation might suit Nina, it’s never really been Sonny’s style.
