The Young And The Restless Spoilers: When And How Do Cane And Phyllis Combust?

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) still doesn’t trust Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), but he is drawn to her. She likes him and intends her hacking theft as a means to an end.

Stealing the artificial intelligence tool that gave Cane immeasurable leverage in his comeback to Genoa City, Wisconsin, was bold. Phyllis believed that he shouldn’t use that weapon to bring down numerous legacy companies and wouldn’t realize the result he’d hoped for.

So, she took it from him, denies doing so, and only regrets giving it to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) because he betrayed the spirit of their perceived deal. Phyllis somehow underestimated the Moustache.

Phyllis Summers’ Miscalculation Costs Her Everything?

For the moment, Phyllis is in line to head Jabot. That’s Victor’s end of the bargain for her delivering Cane’s AI tool.

However, Victor told Phyllis that there were no other terms of the deal and that he would use this powerful program in whatever way he chose. Fans wondered why Phyllis convinced herself that Victor would behave in any way other than what he was, considering the Marco Annicelli (Peter Bergman in a dual role) horror.

Cane surely will learn that Phyllis stole the AI weapon, gave it to Victor, and repeatedly lied to him about doing so. That’s one answer to this feature’s question of when and how, but it’s only one of many projected climaxes.

Cane Ashby Hears An Open Admission

There’s no doubt that a physical chemistry exists between Stafford’s and Flynn’s characters. This is one of those soapy developments that was highly improbable and never existed when Daniel Goddard (the original Cane) was part of the cast.

Yet, this pairing is believable because Cane hasn’t made progress in reconciling with Lily, and Phyllis has reverted to being GC’s pariah. They’re the outsiders, as Phyllis recently termed them, and her analysis is spot on.

If this relationship advances through Thanksgiving and toward or into Christmas, Phyllis might feel enough time allows her to come clean.

She could gamble that controlling the reveal, rather than being revealed, could keep her tie to Cane open.

Lily Winters Creates A Triangle

Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) is projected to head out of town shortly. A good guess is that she’ll visit one or both of the twins while sorting out her feelings about Cane’s replacement romantic interest, Phyllis.

Khalil’s pending maternity leave necessitates her character mostly being off-screen for a period of months, with Lily returning by a spring projection.

A lot of plot space can be created between Cane and Phyllis during that time, with the implication that this couple came into existence to fill that gap and later serve as part of a triangle.

That’s another good answer to the when and how question. No matter how appealing Cane finds Phyllis, he’ll choose Lily if she eventually wants him.
