Y&R Spoilers: Phyllis Gains Temporary Leverage as Victor and Jack Face Off in Power Showdown

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) is very flexible. Forced to adapt after Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) dropped his grandiose hostile takeover plan, she is using immense leverage against the same Genoa City, Wisconsin, power players that he targeted with one addition.

Phyllis has openly stated that she wants to bring Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) down. She will always have a fondness for his oldest son, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), because of the daughter they share.

Phyllis also favors Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), despite his remarriage to one of her many rivals, Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters).

The one addition to Phyllis’ list of targets is the man who formerly hid behind a moniker, Aristotle Dumas. Cane believes she stole his greatly feared artificial intelligence tool and is set on proving it.

Cane Ashby’s Overreach Cost Him Plenty

Cane could have pursued reconciliation with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) years ago, rather than seeking world domination from his chateau in the south of France. Blaming his late father, Colin Atkinson (Tristan Rogers), is a non-starter.

Flynn’s character is a grown man who has been a father for a few decades. Just as it’s true that he was mostly responsible for the end of his second marriage to Lily and the decision to flee GC in search of Colin in 2019, it’s also true that Cane’s overreach since last summer is the reason why he’s in a bad personal and business situation now.

Telling Lily that the AI tool was stolen represents continued progress. The first step in his redemption effort began when he agreed to hand that weapon over to her. So, at least he didn’t hide the theft from her. Though their road to reconciliation will likely be rocky, assuming that happens.

Reaching Out To Billy Abbott Was Wise

Jack and Billy were at odds in recent months, but that was all Billy’s fault. Jack open-heartedly agreed to fully fund Abbott Communications, and then his younger brother turned the not-yet-launched company over to his girlfriend, Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope).

However, time passed, and the threats that Cane and more pressingly, Victor, reared their heads. Cane is now not a concern, but Victor is, because Jack believes Phyllis stole the AI program and is working with the Moustache.

So, Jack’s reaching out to Billy not only affirms their bond as brothers but also offers a chance to reach Phyllis because Bergman’s character feels he can’t.

Phyllis Summers Is The Phoenix

Phyllis tagged herself with a nickname upon her return to GC when Stafford rejoined the cast and replaced Gina Tognoni (Phyllis). The Grand Phoenix Hotel became Phyllis’ comeback vehicle.

But the respectability she sought collapsed when that venture met repeated bad luck. Phyllis sold it, with the proceeds seemingly not securing her future. Thus, the desire to team up with Cane in France.

No one should count Phyllis out or believe that she won’t bring pain to Victor’s life, which appears to be her intent. Rather than trading him the AI program for the chance to head Jabot, it feels like Phyllis is setting Victor up. Viewers will keep watching to see if that’s true.
