Kyle’s Obsession Backfires — Claire’s Harsh Reality Check Hits Hard

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) continues to reject the advice of those who care about him and those who don’t.

Even Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) can see that he’s pushing too hard against Claire Newman (Hayley Erin), but Kyle can’t see it.

Jetting to Los Angeles, California, to give Claire flowers that he picked at Chancellor Park raised two questions. Did Kyle buy those flowers from a licensed vendor in one of Y&R’s most beautiful settings?

Alternatively, was he intoxicated by the thought of giving Claire’s favorite flowers to her in LA and liberated them from the Park that is named after GC’s Grande Dame, Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper)?

Jack Abbott And Diane Jenkins Abbott Offer Sound Advice

Kyle lives with his parents. But that isn’t because of financial issues he’s facing or a lack of gumption to have his own place.

Being close with his parents, including a mother who was thought dead for the bulk of his childhood, is an accomplishment. Devoted viewers recall that there was a period in Kyle’s young adult life when he broke from his father and lived under the wing of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden).

But retrospective scenes aside, Kyle values what his parents have to say. It’s not that he is opposed to their suggestions. It’s just that he’s bound by a false notion that Claire is someone who needs his protection and can’t accept that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) told him not to trail her to the West Coast. But he did, and that was another mistaken judgment.

Holden Novak Creates A Romantic Contrast

Claire’s impulsive bolt to California, where carefree times are being had with Holden Novak (Nathan Owens), was surprising. She’s quickly moved from considering him a confidant to someone who could replace Kyle.

That’s what the LA sightseeing tour with Holden is about. He’s the anti-Kyle of the moment. But as Claire was witness to, Novak’s character has secrets that he hasn’t told.

It’s possible that Claire might not care about Holden’s past, including whatever happened with Audra. She will likely apply the same standard to him as she does to Kyle.

Claire has trust issues because of her life with Jordan Howard (Colleen Zenk). If Holden is open with her, then he has a decent chance to supplant Kyle.

Claire Newman Needs Some Space

Claire was emotionally crowded by Kyle. There was nowhere in GC that she could be without expecting him to find him.

He would not change his course of action despite her repeatedly telling him what she wanted. So, she fled out of desperation. Taking Holden’s opportunistic offer was also aimed at sending Kyle a message.

Kyle may soon realize that if he gives Claire the space she’s requested that Holden might prove to make him look good. Claire is an adult who can make her own decisions, including whether she restarts what was her first relationship.
