The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) agreed to be the frontman. Whether Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) bought his apology or will go along for what could be a ride will soon be seen.
Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) plan is clear. He wants to redirect Cane, so he only goes for Jabot. But the man formerly known as Aristotle Dumas was given a directive by the woman he still claims to love.
Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) told Cane that she wanted to know what his plan was. She later sharpened her lure, telling him that admitting the truth would yield intervention with the twins.
Victor Newman Knows What He’s Doing
Victor wanted Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) to publish the smear against Billy when Cane’s ill-fated gathering was happening on his estate in the South of France.
Adam heard and understood his father, but was delaying the release of that Newman Media hit piece in deference to Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan).
Digitally skipping past the month-plus-long storyline, Cane is living on the luxury train set, said to be its identical American version.
He got Lily to meet with him, though he appears not to realize that Victor brokered that outcome.
Braeden’s character feels he can appeal to Cane through Lily, rightly sensing a weakness that can be exploited. Simultaneously having unleashed the verbal hounds against Cane and Billy has also placed Flynn’s character in a pressured spot.
Nick Newman Makes False Claim And An Offer
Nick’s claim that he and his father knew about Adam’s hit piece was partially true. Victor ordered it, and Nick understood its purpose.
But the man who was stabbed by one of Cane’s overzealous security staffers also said that Adam went ahead with the slam story on his own accord. That was a lie.
Cane appeared to buy Adam being responsible for the Aristotle unmasking. He was also open to Nick’s proposal of having a drink and listening to his undefined proposal. Whether Cane would agree to not go after Chancellor and only go for Jabot is questionable.
Lily Winters Might Need To Go Past Her Limit
Lily wants to help her children deal with the shock of learning that their father was living a secret life for the past six years. She will probably help Cane manage their emotions and soften whatever reaction they have.
However, Lily also appears to be putting her heart at risk. While her tough stance against Cane is genuine, she’s also vulnerable to him.
There’s no doubt that Cane still loves Lily. The one plot point he’s been truthful about is wanting to reconcile with her and being unable to turn away from that goal.
She might need to further her end of Victor’s ruse and find herself rediscovering feelings that have been dormant since Cane left Genoa City, Wisconsin.
