The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Sally And Phyllis Are Right – Billy’s Gamble Is Reckless
Phyllis is in her own country. She is capable of consuming anyone she’s connected to. The danger level rises when that person is a man and has a former romantic connection.
Billy doesn’t see what Sally does. He believes Phyllis is a valuable business hire, and the information he shared with her and Sally about Aristotle is manageable.
Aristotle Dumas Is a French Connection
Aristotle offers Billy a chance to eventually take control of Chancellor with no strings attached. Why Thompson’s character thinks that a shadowy business figure would specifically select him and want nothing in return is worthy of a ruffled brown reaction shot.
As viewers recently learned, Aristotle was the secret contact Billy spoke to when he sneaked out of his and Sally’s bedroom in Paris, France.
That location may have been a clue to Aristotle’s identity because the man believed to be Alan Laurent (Christopher Cousins), who may be his assumed dead brother, Martin Laurent (Cousins in a dual role), could also be Aristotle.\
The French Connection part of this subject header is a wink to the recently late and timelessly great actor Gene Hackman.
Two of that marvelous actor’s greatest roles came in The French Connection, 1971, and The French Connection II, 1975.
Hackman’s character, Jimmy Popeye Doyle, chased notorious criminal Alain Charnier (Fernando Rey) from the United States in the first movie to France in the super sequel. Alain is, of course, Alan in English.
Sally Spectra And Phyllis Summers Recognize Danger
Sally is the most important woman in Billy’s life. She was uncomfortable with Phyllis being part of Abbott Media but was willing to offer slack.
But Billy’s rush to help Phyllis when she was kidnapped caused Sally to reconsider his feelings for Stafford’s character. His interest in Phyllis could go far deeper than his interest in her business skill set.
The nearly identical adverse reaction Sally and Phyllis had to Billy’s reveal of Aristotle’s offer was telling. However, he plans to continue because he wants to level up his place in the corporate world and is looking for vindication.
Billy Abbott Out To Prove Himself
Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) forced Billy out of Chancellor because Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) lost faith in her son. Billy’s refusal to admit that he, not his mother or Victor, was responsible for that outcome continues to drive his motivations.
In all likelihood, Aristotle is using Billy as a means to an end. Whether Billy will regain control of Chancellor or not, Aristotle is manipulating longstanding Genoa City, Wisconsin, angst as part of a larger business goal.
Billy will always put himself behind the soapy eight ball if he needs to prove himself. The risks he’s currently taking could result in Abbott Media being endangered or potentially lost and, more importantly, his family and personal ties being damaged.
