It looks like the critics have spoken. Of course, we are talking about Beyond the Gates as it looks like the first several episodes of the show haven’t really impressed critics of the daytime television audience out there. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Critics Slam Beyond The Gates: ‘The Acting Sucks!’
While a lot of people agree that it’s going to take some time before Beyond the Gates finds it’s groove, others think that it’s too over the top, too soon. Whatever, the case, some people think that the new CBS soap is going to have to change its direction if it wants a longer shelf life.
Many soap fans have even taken to social media to weigh in on the matter.
Some have even commented with, “I watched the first episode. It was not that great IMO. I felt the acting didn’t feel authentic. Of course this is all new and I realize they are just getting the feel of their characters. Some actors were better than others and had less scenery chewing. I will of course give something new a chance.”
Another critic wrote, “With the opportunity to watch both shows on their streaming service, I don’t think BTG will push GH out the door. I watched GH, as always, but plan to watch BTG this weekend to see if I like it. There’s room for both. Didn’t DOOL come on at the same time as GH, before moving to Peacock?”
What’s Next For Beyond The Gates?
And then there was this comment as well: “Everyone needs to get in the GH line and shut up already! Just because a new soap has started (of which I haven’t nor will I ever watch it), doesn’t mean at all that General Hospital is going to be affected in any way, shape or form folks!”
“General Hospital has been on television for 62 years now and, in my opinion, isn’t going ANYWHERE for the next 62 years (I honestly don’t see an end). So, those who choose to watch BTG, so that is there choice. I know what mine will ALWAYS be. PERIOD.”
So far the producers of Beyond The Gates have not made any comments about the matter. But whether or not the soap will survive beyond its first season remains to be seen.

The acting is horrible, even for the veteran actors. Just reciting words with little or no emotion. I tune out after Bold & the Beautiful.
I am enjoying BTG. First off, the fashion got me hooked as well as the soap showcasing a predominately black cast. There are some actors better than others, but I’ll give them a chance to set into their perspective roles. So far so good.
I have watched GH for decades and its getting boring with the same storylines over and over again which get dragged out for months. The Wiley being Michael’s kid, for instance, took 2 1/2 years to be revealed. I’m tired of them dragging every storyline out. I miss the mob boss action with Sonny & Jason. Would like to see more of Ms. Wu..
Wretched attempt to make americans accept the gross behaviours of black women! Stop!! Take it off the air, never watched an episode, just sooooooooooooooooo tired of the commercials. This is not the way, change your ways, then it may work! CRRRRRRRINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNGEEEEEEE
As a Hispanic man, worse show I ever show. It’s just trying to please the woke left white folks with white guilt to put black folks on tv.
I think the acting is really bad. I have been watching from the beginning and still cannot get into it. I must say the jewelry and clothing is amazing, beautiful. The acting is like they are reading lines, maybe they need better script writers. Also the cast is gorgeous!

I was really looking forward to finally see a Soap opera for people of color and am sadly disappointed! There’s too much overacting and the dialogue doesn’t come off as being natural. I’d like to see the acting more realistic along the lines of Terry McMillan Presents on the Lifetime channel. I would also wish that the setting was more sophisticated, almost along the lines of Young and the Restless
if lesley was not on the beyond the gates show it would not be worth watching. the men do not have a spine. whoa!!!! enough of andra and dani silly marriage already.derrick,smitty,martin and ted just take the cake with their whinning.sorriest men i have ever seen. clueless on acting.
