Kyle is falling in love with Claire. Summer no longer feels close to Chance and wants her ex-husband back.

Devoted fans recall that Kyle became irrational when he learned that Summer was shielding her mother. Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) faked her death and attempted to frame Diane Abbott (Susan Walters) for it.

While Kyle’s anger was understandable, he was unjustified in ending his marriage to Summer. Phyllis put her in an untenable position, and Kyle also didn’t reveal the truth when he learned she was alive. So, his punishment of Summer wasn’t supported by his response.

Claire said she’s dreamed of having this job since she was a girl. That dialogue was a bit of a stretch, as living with Jordan Howard (Colleen Zenk) surely didn’t lend itself to any encouragement. Plus, Claire admitted that she was fixated on seeking revenge against the Newman family.

However, suspending disbelief forwards the plot. So, Claire wants to work in the family business. The Newmans are prominent, and working with Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) is an opportunity only someone named Newman would ever attain.

Claire had to leave her nanny’s post, which was far more manageable because of her relationship with Kyle. Her access to him means ongoing contact with Harrison.

Losing Kyle to anyone would be hard. But being supplanted as the mother in Harrison’s life isn’t something Summer is willing to accept.

Claire’s bond with Harrison happened because Jordan kidnapped them. That soapy development may be revisited now that Zenk’s character has returned to Genoa City, Wisconsin, with a highly motivated revenge partner in crime, Ian Ward (Ray Wise).

So, the potential exists for Claire to play the hero again or for Summer to rescue Harrison, this time from the woman he called the witch. Meanwhile, the audience impatiently waits to see the next great conflict build to hopefully the final conflict with Jordan and Ian. However, losing Zenk or Wise from the cast isn’t desired because both actors are so outstanding.
