The Young and the Restless star Melody Thomas Scott, who is best known as her character Nikki Newman on the hit CBS soap, is a beloved actress who is adored by millions thanks to her daytime television fame. And while she has a loving family with her husband Ed Scott and their three daughters, life hasn’t always been easy for the beautiful blonde. In fact, she’s revealed a lot of tragic details about her past. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
The Young and the Restless: Tragic Details About Melody Thomas Scott
In her book, Always Young and Restless, Melody admits that she was sexually abused when she was just a 4-year-old toddler. The abuse happened while she was at the Hollywood Children’s Theater and by a man named Cosmo Morgan, but her grandmother, who was her caretaker at the time, did nothing. She recalled having to sit in the elderly man’s lap and being molested by him.
She wrote in her book, “I remember when I first started to happen I was 4 years old and I hardly knew that this was wrong and she was sitting probably five feet away and I looked at her, my eyes, I’m sure were wild with the questions, ‘Do you see this? Are you going to stop this?’ And she never did.”
Melody also says she never forgave her grandmother for not saving her when she needed her the most. She said, “I’m not ready for that then I don’t know if I ever will because when they are aware they become complicit and that to me is evil. You don’t allow that to happen to a small child.”
The Young and the Restless: Melody’s Dark Past
Melody also says that she thinks her grandmother was mentally ill at the time. She explained, “If it were today and she was diagnosed I’m quite sure it would be borderline personality along with a few other things and she also was overly ambitious and naively believed that whatever we had to do to get further of head in the business was perfectly fine with her, obviously.”
The actress also said that because of her childhood abuse, she wanted to raise her own children in a way that she wasn’t raised before. She said, “There was a chance to correct so much that went wrong when I was a child. I intentionally chose the exact opposite of the decisions that were made for me. Now to watch them grow into beautiful women, with their own children I am so proud and happy.”

I hate hearing that about her child hood. So sad. She needs to win a Emmy for her performance during the kidnapping on Y and R. She was awesome.
Not happy about this story line with Claire. These writers took the time off & came up with this, now sick. I’m sorry for Nikki’s past, how sad that her grandmother didn’t do or say anything to some one
I am so sad to her what Melody had to go through at the age of four years old. Any age is terrible but age four is horrible. It takes a strong person to share what happen to them, you are a strong person, Melody.
