The Bold and the Beautiful fans can’t help but all ask this same question lately: how old is John McCook? The actor, who is best known for his role as Eric Forrester on the hit CBS soap, is truly a legendary figure in the soap world. Here’s what you need to know.
The Bold and the Beautiful: How Old Is John McCook?
As of press time, John McCook is 79 years old. His birthday is June 20, 1944. His former The Bold and the Beautiful co-star Susan Flannery is 84, while The Young and the Restless star Eric Braeden is 82. John’s wife Laurettte Spang-McCook is 72.
Back in September, John along with his co-star Jennifer Gareis opened up about some of the changes in their character’s on-screen relationship. Jennifer admitted that she was happy to hear that the writers were looking to revisit Donna and Eric’s storyline. She said, “I was thrilled that Brad [Bell, executive producer/head writer] decided to revisit Donna and Eric. I had so much fun working with John back in the day and while we’ve had scenes together since, we never really had another story together, so the chance to play this now is such a gift.”
John also added, “What I really like about it is seeing how the characters have changed since. Donna was just a girl then. In a way, she put herself first and now, she is a woman who thinks of others ahead of herself.”
The Bold and the Beautiful: What’s Next For Eric Forrester?
In May, John said that all of the action that he is getting between the sheets has definitely been earned! The actor, who a lot of people would agree has been a legend in the making, said, “And rightly so. He has earned it. He suffered through the machinations of Stephanie for a long time, who he deeply loved, and then he married Sheila, which was the embarrassment of all time, and then he went through a couple of romances and then he married Quinn. That was a wonderful love story. But then he found out she was a manipulator and it brought up in Eric a mistrust and a darkness. There is a darkness in the corners of the Forrester mansion. When he pushed Quinn away and encouraged her to be with Carter, that was a big mistake.”
When asked why Eric is so attracted to Donna, he said, “It is joyful and it is fun and it’s without anxiety and he gives into it. I’m thinking, ‘Is this Eric being a horndog?’ That’s an old cliché that Eric is looking for sex outside of whatever marriage he is in, but he’s always looking for that kind of happiness and here it is.”
