She might have dealt with a lot of wild drama as Ashley Abbott on The Young and the Restless, but Eileen Davidson has had her own fair share of ups and downs throughout her life, too. In fact, many people don’t know her entire story and all of the tragedies she’s faced throughout her life, too. Here’s just a little bit of what you need to know about Eileen and her family history.
The Young and the Restless News: Tragic Details About Eileen Davidson
Back in 2014, it was reported that Eileen had lost her sister Connie that year to cancer. A few weeks later, her niece Brooke died at the age of 35 after a long battle with addiction. One source close to the situation said at the time, “Eileen posted a message on Twitter saying that she was at Connie’s bedside, along with her sister’s daughter. Then Brooke died unexpectedly in her sleep at her home. It was a terrible spring for Eileen.”
Eileen later went on to say that her sister chose not to have surgery and instead treated her cancer homeopathically. The actress says, “One of my sisters died in my arms. Anybody who wants to choose that road, I am not sitting in judgment of you. But her daughter, who was my nanny at the time, was living with us and her mom chose to go all over the world and try clinics. It was just very crazy.”
If that weren’t enough, in 2016, Eileen lost her brother, John Davidson. He suddenly passed away at the age of 69. Eileen wrote at the time, “My big brother was a brilliant man. He graduated Cum Laude with a major in Chemistry and a minor in Mathematics from St. Mary’s College. John had a wicked sense of humor and a great love for his family.”

Eileen also told Maurice Benard on his YouTube series State of Mind that her father was manic depressive while she was growing up. She said, “He wasn’t diagnosed, but his behavior was pretty bizarre. And there was so much shame attached to that. It was hard not to miss it. He would go into his room, and I was like 8 years old, and not talk to me for like six months. He would come in the door, and literally, walk by me like I wasn’t even there.”
Eileen also admitted in the same interview that her mother was an incest survivor. Throughout everything she’s dealt with in her life, Eileen credits therapy in helping her through the ups and downs of her own life. She said of her life with her parents, “I realized that they were dealing with this stuff which is so huge and traumatic, and it was heroic. And I have so much respect for them. I love the fact that they were able to raise seven of us and work many, many hours of the day trying to support a family of seven.”
