You can take the man out of soaps, but you certainly can’t take soaps out of the man. Even though he is best known for his role as Jackson Montgomery on All My Children, actor Walt Willey says that he knew he’d come back to the daytime television world in one way or another. And he certainly did as the actor is now going to join the cast of General Hospital for a brief arc. Here’s what you need to know.
General Hospital Spoilers: Walt Willey Knew He’d End Up On General Hospital
According to the latest edition of Soap Opera Digest, Walt Willey opened up about his return to the daytime television world. He puts it this way, “This is going to sound ridiculous, but somehow, I always knew that I’d end up on General Hospital. This is nothing I’d pondered a bunch, it was more like, ‘Oh, well, I wouldn’t be surprised if one day, I got a call from them.’ Now, the surprise was that they wanted me to do Jack!”
The actor says that after All My Children ended in 2011, he still remained in Los Angeles. Unfortunately though, he had a hard time finding work. Walt recalled, “It’s the curse of daytime. You work forever, and then when you are done, you are done.”
That’s when he decided to move back to Illinois. And while he feels very appreciative and humbled that he got the call to come back to the soap world, Walt does admit that he was very nervous at first. He said, “I remember getting the item sheet with the schedule of scenes for a tape day, along with my script, emailed to me, and I had never seen so many items done in a day!” but adding, “I have never felt more welcomed or safe or taken care of on any set I’ve ever been on in my life than I did on the General Hospital set.”
