You can never say never, especially when it comes to the daytime television world. And if there’s anyone who understands that all too well, it’s definitely The Young and the Restless star Linden Ashby. The actor, who is best known for his role as Cameron Kirsten on the hit CBS soap, recently said that he didn’t think he would ever make a return to the daytime television world, yet here he is again. Here’s what you need to know.
The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Linden Ashby Didn’t Think He Would Return To Genoa City
Speaking to Soap Opera Digest in a new interview, Linden says that the producers of the show contacted him about a year ago about reprising his role as Cameron. He told the publication, “Back then [Executive Producer/Head Writer] Josh Griffith reached out to me through my wife, Susan [Walters, Diane], about coming back but I couldn’t,” the actor explains. “I was shooting a movie and then I had another movie and then I was directing a Lifetime movie, so it just wasn’t good timing. And then he reached out again this year, and I said, ‘Okay, but I have this trip planned that I absolutely can’t get out of, so if we could do this [gig] in that window of time, I can do it.’”
And while Cameron has already caused some trouble – like killing Faith’s cat and trying to frame Nick Newman – Linden says that it’s great to be back on the set of The Young and the Restless. He also said that he’s having a great time reconnecting with some of his old co-stars and getting to know his new ones, too.
The Young and the Restless Spoilers: What’s Next For Cameron?
Linden said, “When Susan came back to the show, I started watching it again, and when I first saw Chance, I thought, ‘Okay, he’s dreamy.’ And then I got to share scenes with Conner [Floyd, Chance] and he’s just a really good guy. At one point he told me, ‘Hey, you’re pretty good at this stuff,’ and Joshua said to him, ‘Dude, you know Mortal Kombat, right?’ Conner suddenly goes, ‘You’re Johnny Cage! No way!’ It was such a big part of their childhood, so I’m like this cultural touchstone [laughs].”
