The Young and the Restless News: What’s Going On With Doug Davidson These Days?

If there’s anything that we’ve learned about the daytime television industry, it’s that it sure is a fickle one. One day you are in, while the next day you are out, and with really no concrete explanation, either. Well, if there’s anyone who knows that feeling all too well, it’s The Young and the Restless alum Doug Davidson (Paul Williams). For some time now it seems like he’s been wanting his job back at the hit CBS soap, but it just hasn’t happened. That, and a lot of fans also can’t help but wonder why he even got the boot in the first place, seeing how he’s been on the show for nearly 40 years. Here’s what you need to know.

The Young and the Restless News: What’s Going On With Doug Davidson These Days?

One of the reasons why Doug Davidson still has such a huge fan base among The Young and the Restless viewers is because he was one of the biggest heartthrobs of daytime television in the 1970s and 1980s and for good reason, too. With his good looks and charming boy next door personality, Doug won hearts over, despite the fact that his character Paul Williams did some shady things in this fictional city of Genoa City.

Well, after one thing led to another, it seemed like fans were seeing less and less of the hunky detective on the small screen. And before anyone knew it, Paul was given the boot altogether when he found out that his contract was not being extended on the show. These days it seems like Paul really isn’t doing anything other than engaging with his fans on social media and reminiscing about yesteryear. That, and it seems like he’s also fully aware of all the gossip and drama surrounding Genoa City, both on and off screen.

The Young and the Restless News: What’s Next For Doug?

Whether or not he ever returns to Genoa City remains to be seen. That said, Doug also hasn’t made any comments about his future, but it’s without a doubt that he would jump at the chance to return to The Young and the Restless. Why would he not, right? Watch this space.

I find the Y&R treated Paul awful. He was loved by all of us. It was the way they treated him after 40 yrs. I am sure an experienced journalist could have written a story to keep him on the show. You have hired a lot of people who brought nothing to the show. I lost a lot of respect for Y&R. You might better have let Cricket go but she’s related to one of the big wigs. Not fair.
