Days of Our Lives fans have spoken: the majority think it’s time to move on from all of the “devil” storylines that have taken over Salem this past year. In fact, many have noticed that the ratings for the otherwise hit NBC soap have gone downhill and they think the devil certainly has something to do with it. Here’s what you need to know.

According to reports, Days of Our Lives has seen a slump in the ratings the week of April 4 to 8. The soap took a big dip in the ratings across all key demographics. While the show did see 1.59 million viewers this past week, they lost 454,000 viewers compared to this time two years ago. Also, Days of Our Lives saw the lowest ratings last week since November 2021.
Of course, it didn’t take long at all for both fans and critics to weigh in on the matter. Many of them took to social media to write, “The Possession was done to perfection with Marlena, with a twinkle in the eye. They even got Eileen Davidson back for it. But now, without that element, it just seems stretched. Like no. Move on,” along with, “They should have had Johnny pretend to be possessed by the devil for publicity just for his new film if they wanted to continue with that storyline. That would have been different. Can you imagine the fallout from Sami, Marlena and others once they found out what he had done.”
Another fan wrote, “Even in 2022 you can successfully tell a story for several months if there is good acting, good plot points and some kind of logic in the storytelling albeit a supernatural story. I don’t think Days’ possession storyline has had all those three things at all times. That’s why the ratings have not been good.”

So done with the Devil story line, it was done years ago. Why is everything so repetitive? Move on. I am almost ready to stop watching if this devil line continues. Also, get at least a little realistic with the hospital security and the prison security. Nothing is even remotely close to the how things should be. Please move on!!!

I have watched days from the very 1st episode. Loved it from the beginning but it has gradually changed over the years. The latest storyline would have to be the worst storyline I have ever seen, ok to begin with but has been carried on far too long. Time for the devil to go to hell

The devil storyline has gone on way too long. It has reached the point where it appears that the writers have no creativity left and have gone on vacation. I’ve been watching Days for decades and there were always wondered stories that were built around mystical situations. Give us some of those and send the devil back to hell.

Ever since they brought the Devil line back I have seldom watched. They have done it far too often, if the writers are not able to come up with new story lines than maybe they need to retire. They need new , fresh ideas not the same old, same old. I have watched this show pretty much since it started, so when I see the same thing over and over, you lose me. Also seems as if they have a story line I see the same thing on other shows, are they working together ?
I’ve watch DOOL for over 25 yrs. I have found myself not even turning the show on or recording if I’m not going to be home. I think you’ve beat that devil so much I absolutely can’t stand to watch any of those story lines I’m so over it. Not interesting at all. Please get rid of that story line. It’s so over kill!! One person was enough but this whole thing that just keeps dragging on, makes me want to stop watching it all together.

I have totally lost interest in a show I’ve watched for 50 years. Not only has the demon possession disgusted me but the fact that so many characters have decided they are now gay is disgusting. Each new character added to the show seems to bring with them another bad storyline.

I stopped watching during the first possession storyline, and I quit the second time as well. At first I thought it would end after Halloween, then hoped for Christmas, then hoped for February, then quit checking back in altogether. Who even likes this????

I stopped watching DOOL because of the devil sl. I have never been feeling this icky about DOOL until now. It’s a shame. I hope they end the devil sl very fast.
My wife and I have been watching DOOL for years, but we are so sick of the devil storyline that we’re thinking about dropping it altogether. It was sort of fun at the beginning but now it’s just awful. It’s a shame the writers have destroyed this show.

I have been watching DOOL since the late 60s and am disgusted with this ridiculous story line. ENOUGH ALREADY. Send the devil out of Salem once and for all. Once the exorcism was completed on Marlena, that should have been the end. Another story line that is hard to swallow is the release of Jan to house arrest at the home of Shawn and Belle. REALLY?!?!?!? I know that soaps have never really been rooted in reality, but these two story lines are an insult to the intelligence of those of us who have been long time viewers. I will stop watching unless these stupid stories are abandoned SOON. The writers must all be possessed.

I am sick to death of the storyline of the devil! It was absurd they did it all those years ago, even more absurd that they brought it back, and even worse is how long this has been dragged out! I only watch the soap now to see Racole and Broe. The devil is the worst storyline, but so many other ones are bad too, such as Sarah’s return and Leo Stark’s conniving. The ratings are bad for a reason! Fire Ron Carlivati and bring someone else on as head writer.

Do your writers forget how to write? So once again we have to endure to see who is lucky enough to become the next devil. Its so tiring. I hope that when I turn it back on once a week to see if they remember how to write? Just give it a rest. There are definitely other shows out there that their storylines are really getting good.

The devil posession is the stupidest storyline i have ever seen on Days. I always thought that cloning Rafe was the stupidest but now this??? It was good Halloween fun with Marlene but jumping from one person to the next got tiring. I hope it is done for good.
For real. Glad the Devil is out but the gayness needs to take a hike now. Not every show has to check every single woke box. The low ratings should be proof in the pudding.
