The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers and updates tease that Michael Muhney has no plans of returning to daytime drama. He shared the reason in a tweet.
When a fan suggested that he take on a role on ABC’s General Hospital, the actor quickly turned down the idea. The actor shared that he doesn’t want to offend anybody from the production or the audience but he has no desire to do another soap.
The actor is happy and grateful for getting the opportunity to be part of The Young and the Restless. However, his heart belongs to primetime and streaming.
The Young and The Restless – Only Adam Newman
He also revealed that he made a promise to himself that the only character he’d play would be Adam Newman. He joined the cast of the daytime drama in 2009 and left in 2014.
During his stint, his excellent portrayal of the character earned him a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Leading Actor in 2013. Muhney said Adam was the only character that he wanted to play on daytime TV.

Aside from The Young and the Restless, Michael Muhney appeared on Veronica Mars for three seasons from 2004 to 2007. His other acting credits are The Good Doctor and Sidepiece.
The Young and The Restless – Dealing With Rejection
In his tweet, the actor said that he’s keeping his “stickwithittude” after getting rejected so many times in his auditions.
“But I’ve nothing else to do with my time so I guess I’ll remain a glutton for punishment,” the actor said.
He appreciated his fans who wanted to see him back on the small screen. Muhney assured them that he’s always looking for new projects and that he’s not struggling because he managed to save his money.
The Young and the Restless Spoilers Next Week: Will Adam Newman Overthrow Victoria Newman
Muhney may no longer be with The Young and the Restless but his character, Adam Newman still is. Now portrayed by Mark Grossman, Adam may finally be convinced by Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) to overthrow Victoria Newman-Locke (Amelia Heinle).
As Victoria gloats that she’s now Adam’s boss, the latter will confront Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) about his decision. Victor will brush him off and say that he doesn’t need his approval and Adam can either stay or quit.
When Sally hears about it, she’ll tell Adam that he can use the situation to his advantage and find a way to control Newman Media.
