The actor has portrayed Ashland Locke these last several months. Richard made his announcement on one of his Instagram stories. He thanked his fans and followers by writing, “I have such gratitude for the support. I’m moving on from the show, I’ve had a great year on Y&R and I’ve just thoroughly enjoyed the cast crew. Such wonderful people and I wish you all a great start to 2022, luck, health, love, joy. God bless.”

Of course, it didn’t take long at all for fans to weigh in on the matter. Many of them wrote, “He should return to General Hospital as Jax or another character, maybe a Novak! He would probably have great chemistry with Nina and give Sonny/Mike a great nemesis!!” along with, “Although Victoria and Ashland had chemistry, the main reason for their marriage was to finalize the merger. Victoria Locke will look very powerful now that Ashland is out of the picture. Victor always thought that Adam was his smartest child and most like him and wanted him to eventually take over Newman Enterprises.”
