I don’t think the Duke and Duchess of Sussex can find a bigger critic than the one they’ve found in current US President, Donald Trump.
They may have cozied up to the Obamas, but Trump, who professes to be a friend of the late Queen Elizabeth, has made his dislike of the couple very clear.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were still freshly settling into their lives in the UK, when the President sent them a big farewell card in the way of one last public criticism.
During a White House press conference, the President was asked about his thoughts on Harry and Meghan choosing to return to the UK. To this, he simply declared that he was “happy” they were gone, adding that he was “not a fan.” “I would not have taken them back,” he remarked.
“I thought they treated the royal family with great disrespect. I didn’t like it. I didn’t like the way she acted.
I thought she was terribly disrespectful to the Queen, to King Charles,” he said, referencing the Sussexes’ years-long crusade against the Royal Family.
Well, the “terribly disrespectful” duo are back in the UK after six years of living in America, and some are suspecting they’ve returned to set up a rival court.
Already, Harry has carried out a number of faux-royal engagements, and recently flew to New York City to take part in the Clinton Global Initiative. There, he took the stage to address the crowd about the dangers of AI.
Meghan is yet to accompany him on any of his UK engagements so far, though she was photographed at a pub with US talk show host, Ellen DeGeneres.
So far, the Sussexes are settling in fine in the UK, and much of the media circus surrounding their return has gone away.
They couple has chosen to settle in in the affluent Cotswolds area, with Archie and Lilibet attending a new school around the area. It is reported that the CEO of Marshall Wace LLP, billionaire Ian Wace, helped finance their UK return.
