The Young and The Restless spoilers and updates reveal Marie Kirkland (Jade Harlow) bid Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) an emotional farewell at the rehab facility before departing Genoa City.
She explained to Nick that she’s relocating to be closer to her parents following her abusive husband Logan Kirkland’s (Tommy Walker) death-though her return remains uncertain.
Today we’re discussing whether Marie returns pregnant with Nick’s baby, disrupting the Newman family.
Marie refused to let Nick take the fall for Logan’s death, leading to her arrest. Nick contacted Michael Baldwin (Christian Leblanc) to represent her at the police station, successfully securing her release after authorities ruled Logan’s death accidental.
Marie later visited Nick at rehab to say goodbye, expressing gratitude for his willingness to accept blame despite barely knowing her. But somehow, it didn’t seem like she really wanted to leave.
Marie claimed her parents would support her recovery, yet the chemistry between them was undeniable-neither wanted to separate.
Before departing, Nick and Marie shared an intense kiss; however, The Young and the Restless Fall spoilers suggest Marie may return. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) is determined to protect Nick’s recovery and prevent anything from jeopardizing it.
Victor has been concerned about Marie since learning of her, fearing her addiction could negatively influence Nick. He worries that if Marie relapsed, Nick might be tempted to do the same-a legitimate concern.
Victor’s desire to support Nick’s recovery is commendable, yet his history of meddling in his children’s relationships-often intrusively and harmfully-raises questions.
Could Victor be responsible for Marie’s departure-he may have offered her money to leave town and cut ties with Nick, a proposition difficult to refuse given her financial struggles.
Victor might have framed it as necessary for Nick’s wellbeing: “Take the money, leave, and never contact Nick again.”
Marie’s attraction to Nick stems partly from his protective nature, a stark contrast to her abusive husband Logan; Victor’s wealth, power, and influence make him a formidable force-one that would understandably intimidate anyone he targets.
Whether Victor orchestrated Marie’s exit from Genoa City and her abandonment of rehab remains unclear.
It Seems Unlikely The CBS Soap Would Cast A Soap Vet For A Minor Subplot
It seems unlikely that The Young and the Restless would cast a talented actress like Jade Harlow for such a brief appearance; a soap veteran wouldn’t be necessary for a minor subplot.
This suggests Marie will likely return, possibly when she discovers she’s pregnant with Nick’s child-regardless of whether Victor orchestrated her departure.
Otherwise, there would be no narrative purpose for Nick and Marie’s sexual encounter; they could have simply spent time together, used drugs, talked, and then she overdosed.
The intimate scene between them wasn’t essential, and even if Victor paid Marie to leave town, a pregnancy with Nick as the father would justify her return despite their agreement. She would almost certainly defy Victor under those circumstances.
