Montecito Residents Worried Over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Divisive Image

Roughly a year after the Sussex couple left the Royal Family behind to live on as private citizens, they purchased the multi-million dollar mansion in the idyllic neighborhood that is Montecito.

Home to Oprah Winfrey, popstar Katy Perry, and many other big names, Harry and Meghan reportedly had a hard time fitting into the community’s social atmosphere.

Harry, especially, was said to have been the hardest hit, since Hollywood circles were a new world to him. However, it seems that even Meghan, who was previously said to have taken to their new life like a fish takes to water, started to struggle at some point.

“When we first heard Harry and Meghan were moving to Montecito, there were definitely some concerns,” a local resident exclusively told Page Six.

“There had already been so much negative press and attention surrounding them and the royal family, and I think people worried about what kind of spotlight that could bring to such a quiet community.”

The resident further claimed that neighbors “couldn’t be more thrilled” that Harry has taken his family back to his homeland. “Montecito is a very private, peaceful place, and I think a lot of people here will be happy to see things go back to being a little quieter,” they said.

A long-time resident by the name of Buz Bonsall, 76, who purported to have seen them from afar, said he feels “nothing” when confronted about the Sussexes’ decision to move back to the UK.
