The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers for Monday, August 24 reveal that surprise is the word of the day as both Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) are caught unaware.

Marie Kirkland (Jade Harlow) surprises Nick while Jack is startled at Jabot.

Genoa City Full of Action

Jack’s in his office when Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) drops by. She’s likely checking in on him after his hospital stay, and after her own health scare.

But Jack is distracted by corporate drama and doesn’t have time for old acquaintances. This makes Nikki suspicious and she pressures Jack to tell her what’s going on.

Billy’s Folly

Jack is concerned that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) discovered a document declaring that the Abbotts own Chancellor due to past debt that was not paid. However, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) wants to pay off the ancient loan, with interest, to avoid a catfight.

Jack can’t win for losing in this situation. No matter who sides with, the other party will be angry. Will Jack chose to alienate Billy?

Nikki may allow Jack to vent about the dilemma and offer up her own sage advice about dealing with egomaniacs.

Sharon’s Concern

Elsewhere, Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) worries about Nick at the rehab facility following a brutal encounter with raggedy man Matt Clark (Roger Howarth).

Nick decides to try a puzzle for distraction and that’s when Marie appears at just the right moment.

Who is Marie?

Her sudden appearance makes for conversation about puzzles and perspectives. Nick saved Marie from an OD after they got funky at a seedy motel.

At that time she was angry about being saved but now realizes that she owes Nick for saving her life.

Scorching The Young and the Restless spoilers hint that Marie is now committed to her recovery and thanks Nick for saving her.

Marie expresses the desire to recover and Nick is 100% on board. Her good news has a positive impact on Nick and we sense a complicated relationship is on the horizon.
