The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Lily Falls for Cane Again – Devon Predicts Disaster as Billy Targets Chancellor

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) doesn’t believe that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) can take Chancellor from her. Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) is supporting the revived love of his life, though his bravado emphasizes bluster over provable facts.

Enter Devon Winters (Bryton James) stage right. The setting was Society at one of the main tables, where coffee cups that resemble small soup bowls and what appears to be plastic ware are used in his wife’s popular restaurant.

Cane can’t do anything to improve his standing with Devon. But Flynn’s character doesn’t care at this point in his comeback because he’s regained Lily’s trust.

Key Takeaways

  • Lily falls for Cane again.
  • Billy makes his move on Chancellor.
  • Cane backs Lily in the corporate war.
  • Devon predicts trouble ahead.

Lily Winters’ Heart Isn’t Open To Chancellor News

In what felt like a plot push, Billy sensed that his mother was hiding something from him that was huge. Within a matter of what seemed like days, he found a cliched smoking gun in musty files that he pulled from cardboard boxes that were buried in Chancellor’s archives.

Cane is responsible for Billy having access to what might be impenetrable proof. Billy would have never known about Chancellor’s outstanding loan if Cane hadn’t convinced Lily that he should hire Billy as a form of peace offering.

But Lily isn’t blaming Cane and doesn’t like her brother’s continued attitude toward Cane. She recognizes Billy as an ingrate and wants to shut him down no matter what it takes.

All Of This Helps Cane Ashby Get His Life Back

Cane was Aristotle Dumas, in a storyline that feels like three years ago rather than having happened last summer. The reintroduction of this dormant character, which was once and only played by Daniel Goddard (Cane Ashby), included a measured recast to Flynn.

Credit to the casting department because Flynn offers a different version of Cane that Goddard played. That actor was solid and delivered what was needed during that period in Y&R’s history, but the shift in this character’s presentation must have meant that a fresh take was desired to make it most believable.

Lily is falling back in love with Cane. She sees him as the only person who’s willing to help her defend the asset Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) gave her in exchange for having manipulated Cane earlier this year. So, some guilt also drove Lily’s renewed faith in her two-time ex-husband.

Devon Winters Sees Doom As Inevitable

Devon might be proven right. Lily could be setting herself up for repeated drama with Cane because of what he perceives as flawed morality.

But the audience recently heard Devon admit that he realized an epiphany after the drama Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) created when abducting Dominic Winters (Ethan Ray Clark). The announcement about leaving Winters Incorporated, combined with Nate Hastings’ (Sean Dominic) effort to fix the hand Devon damaged a handful of years ago, left Lily two people short at their family business.

So, what Devon sees as inevitable doom doesn’t take into account Lily wanting replacement manpower. Plus, his subjective take on her feelings for Cane is arguable, if not actual condescension disguised as concern for a sibling.

Yet, Devon’s instincts shouldn’t be dismissed until this tale plays out. Whether Lily should follow her brother’s personal and business advice and whether it proves correct in one or both instances represent an intertwined double question.
