As viewers saw, Steffy lost control, didn’t seek her father’s help in Monaco, and drank herself into a stupor on a rushed plane trip back to Los Angeles, California. But running away from what she saw as problems actually led her to a far greater one.
Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) was thrown for an incredible loop. He was stunned when his wife felt compelled to leave him and their marriage. But her trip to be with family, which she said he wasn’t, in France didn’t happen.
Steffy wasn’t herself after she saw Sheila. That specific incident on the beach in Monaco changed everything in an instant and set Wood’s normally stable character off to an extent that her husband didn’t recognize her a day later.
Flying back to LA was an attempt to reclaim sanity. Steffy felt that Finn betrayed her trust by not forcing Sheila to depart the plane she boarded for Monaco moments before the door was sealed by its crew.
There was nothing Finn could say or do as they stood with Sheila to soothe Steffy’s emotions. As she later told Carter, Monaco was her and her husband’s special place, where they found each other when Novlan’s character was presumed shot dead by Sheila, who also infamously shot Steffy on the same fateful day.
As was true for Steffy, Carter was convinced that his wife betrayed him and that his marriage was over. So, he and Steffy drank until they were blistered and then cavorted in Forrester Creations’ executive suite.
Awaking the next day reinforced that both people had a conscience. They were equally mortified by what they chose to do while under the influence of alcohol. While not an excuse, that liquid enabler does explain their behavior, which was never intended before that moment.
Circumstances caused Carter, like Steffy, to cheat. Both people made mistakes that could cause their marriages to actually end, as they falsely concluded after Daphne Walton (Murielle Hilaire) and Finn seemingly irrevocably broke their trust.
Kelly Sullivan (Darcy Dylan) is set to debut as Melissa Dylan’s (Sydney Bullock) mother. The arrival of this new character comes just in time for the woman who goes by her last name, Dylan.
Katie Logan Spencer (Heather Tom) told her son that she doesn’t trust Dylan, who has shamelessly pursued Will Spencer (Crew Morrow). That pronouncement, following Katie’s verbal warning to Dylan, likely establishes a confrontation where Darcy will defend her daughter.
Of course, as Katie said, little is known about Dylan’s backstory. So, she, Will, and the audience don’t yet know what type of relationship Dylan has with her mother. It is assumed that Darcy will back her daughter, with fans soon knowing if that proves true.
