Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) also didn’t anticipate that his devoted wife would leave him in Los Angeles, California.
Not one but two marriage failures happened simultaneously, which viewers realized was intentional. The emotional clashes resulted in Daphne Walton’s (Murielle Hilaire) sad flight to Paris, France, and Steffy drowning her sorrows in booze during her impulsive return trip to LA.
Carter was yet again devastated by another woman he loved dumping him while Finn frantically searched the beach and streets in Monaco for his wife. The dark LA night stood in contrast to the sun-drenched sights at what was this summer’s location setting.
All isn’t as lost for Daphne as she has concluded. It remains possible that she can eventually conceive a child, despite her early menopause diagnosis.
As Steffy and Carter told her, she can pursue any available medical methods to see if she can give her husband the child she believes he desperately wants. Plus, they reminded her of the other options that are available for her and Carter to have a biological child or that they could adopt a child who needs a good family that they would provide.
Jetting off to France, claiming that she needed time away from Carter and with her family, was a stretch. Viewers were asked to believe that Daphne’s shame overwhelmed her and that she had to leave immediately, which was plausible. But taking off her ring didn’t make full sense.
Steffy was incensed when finding eight-toed Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) hiding under a towel. Of course, her feet were exposed in a moment that injected a last bit of levity into a scenario that immediately turned tense and will remain so indefinitely.
Removing her rings, throwing them at Finn, and running away was illogical. Steffy could have gone to her father, Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye), instead. The fact that she didn’t became one of the plot points where viewers were asked to suspend disbelief.
Finn’s reaction was believable. He didn’t know where Steffy went.
However, he realized that her frantic state of mind was dangerous, with his comments to Ridge and Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) about fearing something else would happen if he didn’t get to her in time being foreboding.
An easy line to draw from the Forrester Creations executive suite through to Finn’s and Daphne’s broken hearts includes Carter becoming a father, but not with his estranged wife.
Will his comforting of Steffy and the highly dramatic circumstances this quartet faced result in a child being conceived?
It would be one of the more explosive and highly-charged storylines in a long time. Great soap is cultivated through excellent writing, with the characters involved and the fans knowing, in the not-too-distant future, whether this outcome happens.
