The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Is Victor Newman Too Toxic For The Soap? While there’s no doubt that times have changed, it looks like some characters have remained the same – and that might not be a good thing at all.

Is Victor Newman Too Toxic For The Soap?

That’s why a lot of The Young and the Restless fans are arguing that Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) might have become too toxic for the soap.

Seeing how actor Eric Braeden is already in his mid-80s, there’s some speculation suggesting that he might retire from acting or that his character might be written off from the show.

That, and there’s also the possibility that Nikki Newman might be able to carry a storyline without Victor by her side. After all, he’s become so toxic in Genoa City that some fans are completely over him. That’s because he is operating in a way that makes everyone fear him and his unusually big appetite for control.

Clearly, Y&R fans had a lot to say about the matter on social media. Some even commented with, “I think ideally, instead of some death scene, there’s a big farewell/anniversary party for Victor and Nikki sending them off on a world cruise where they are expected to be gone for several months.”

“And during that trip Victor dies peacefully in his sleep. This would accomplish having the opportunity for all his friends and family to give speeches, wish them well, say goodbyes before he leaves. I really don’t want a deathbed scene like they did with Cane’s father.”

What’s Next For Victor Newman?

Another critic wrote, “Y&R was a popular success before Eric Braden ever came on to play Victor. It will not only survive his loss, but likely thrive. This soap is in abysmal need of focus on newer generations and viewers aren’t so keen on toxic and cruel characters like Victor Newman anymore.”

And then there was this comment as well: “You can have a morally grey character, but not one with no redeeming qualities, and sadly, that’s what Victor has become.”

The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on the CBS network. Check your local listings for times.

I feel for Nicks character…He’s a stand up guy who has morals he doesn’t get into problems so these writers need to put him back together and end this drug story….send him off to rehab and bring back the old nick we love and want ….reality yes people relapse but this is a soap ….stop this story and give the guy a break…

The writers need to make him human again He was always ruthless but not obsessively greedy. The writers are making him into a greedy obsessive unfeeling human going into his retirement . He has been an icon on this show forever, he may have been ruthless but he had a good side too. they are making him into a mental case.. Hate It !!!!!
