Days of Our Lives Comings & Goings May 4-8: Recast News, DiMeras Return + More

New Javi Hernandez Recast

As fans know, Al Calderon will soon be stepping away from his role as Javi Hernandez.

Calderon scored a role on the prime-time NBC drama, Brilliant Minds, and started filming his new show in the summer of 2025. Still, due to Days of Our Lives’ advanced filming schedule, the “new” Javi will not be seen until next month.

With that said, the Peacock soap announced Calderon’s replacement, as daytime drama newcomer Jacob Martinez will enter the role on Tuesday, June 30.

DiMeras Return

As per the Days of Our Lives preview video for the week of May 4, Anna DiMera, played by Leann Hunley, and Tony DiMera, played by Thaao Penghlis, are back in Salem! The married couple has returned for the reading of Stephano DiMera’s (Joseph Mascolo) will, so audiences will see the twosome pop up in the “days” ahead!

More Casting Notes

Recurring player, Wally Kurth, will get more airtime this week as Justin Kiriakis.

He’ll share scenes with Alex Kiriakis (Robert Scott Wilson) during the Thursday, May 7 show as Justin learns he’s a grandfather again. The dad and son will also bond over fatherhood!

In addition, fans will see more of Amy Choi, as Shi Ne Nielson continues to get time on the canvas, thanks to the shenanigans of her daughter, Sophia Choi (Rachel Boyd).

Amy will get disturbing news during the Tuesday, May 5 episode from Jada Hunter (Elia Cantu) and share scenes with Johnny DiMera (Carson Boatman) on the May 7 episode.
