That’s because Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) asked Ric about a battered woman defense for Willow—just in case.
Ric heard alarm bells and worried about what Willow is up to—going after Drew or Michael?

Thus, Ric could divulge enough for Alexis to understand that Nina has qualms about Willow which would scare Alexis in part due to her granddaughter being around Nina.
