That’s because actress Kelly Thiebaud, who plays Britt on the hit ABC soap, recently made it pretty clear that she was blindsided over the news that her co-star Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) would be taking an extensive break from the show.
And for Kelly and of course a lot of General Hospital fans out there, they really didn’t see Steve’s announcement coming.
He wrote on his social media pages: “Hey everyone, I wanted to share that I’ll be taking a short break from General Hospital.
I’m newly married and looking forward to spending some quality time with my family. I’m grateful for all the support and will be back this summer.”
For Kelly though, she openly expressed her disappointment by clarifying that she really didn’t see this move coming.
The timing, of course, is especially interesting, seeing how their on-screen characters, Jason and Britt, were about to get very hot and heavy.
That’s why there has been some speculation that one of the reasons why Steve is taking a break from General Hospital is because of his wife, Michelle Lundstrom.
After all, it’s not easy seeing your new husband make out with a beautiful soap opera actress while they are in front of the cameras, right?
There was also a rumor suggesting that Steve might have a sex clause in his contract with General Hospital.
Earlier in the month, it revealed that Jason rescued Britt from drowning in freezing water, but it all happened off screen.
If that weren’t enough, Jason and Britt also got very busy under the sheets, but fans didn’t get to see that scene in action, either!
That’s why a lot of people are questioning why there’s so much backstory about Britt and Jason, but no one is seeing any of it actually happen.
So far Steve Burton has not made any comments about the matter. Now, whether or not he will come back by the summer remains to be seen. We will update you with all of the latest details as they come in.

From reading spoilers on different sites, I am beginning to feel people are having problems with Steve leaving GH at this time due to his story line and the so called love affair between he and Britt than they are concerned of the actor's personal welfare. So strange in my opinion. Should the actor's personal life needs a hiatus at this time for whatever reason viewers don't need to know why and won't regardless of how much they pry. Steve needs to do what is best for he and his family. The rumor mill is getting ridiculous and Steve is not warranted to give any more explanations that he already has. I support his taking a hiatus if needed and will welcome him back when the time is right. Viewers need to give consideration to actors private lives and just wish Steve well and hope all is resolved for him to return to canvas in the summer as anticipated. Professional and private lives are two different things and it takes both to make a person whole. I know there those out there who feel as I do about this situation, but the others need to give the guy a break.

I agree. These stupid articles don't help. First implying his wife is jealous and insecure, and then speculating he might have a health problem. It's ridiculous. Yeah, we love him and will miss him, but we need to leave him alone and let him do what he needs to do.
I think they should recast him and move on with the storyline. It is his job to perform and if he calls out then recast him there are a lot of available male actors out yhere
