Prince William Acts to Protect Princess Diana’s Legacy From the Sussexes?

For a while now, we’ve heard that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle plan to produce a Princess Diana biopic to commemorate the 30th anniversary of her death.

Now, we’re hearing that Prince William is deeply “disturbed” by this idea, so much so that he is seeking legal advice.

What Will Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Diana Biopic Be About?

Prince Harry might have once confessed that he has very little memories of his mother, but it seems this won’t stop him from making a film that he feels will honor her legacy.

He won’t be doing this alone, mind you, but will be embarking on this project alongside his wife, Meghan. Meghan is set to play a huge role behind-the-scenes in the creation of the biopic.

Per reports, the biopic will “examine Diana’s life, her treatment by the media and the monarchy, and the impact of her death on her sons.”

Prince William Reportedly Isn’t Happy Princess Diana’s Legacy Will Be Shaped By Harry and Meghan

On William’s part, the proposed involvement of Meghan, who never once met Diana, is causing him some distress.

“What has struck a nerve for William is the extent of Meghan’s role in the project,” a source said, adding, “He feels that allowing her to influence or derive any benefit from Diana’s legacy crosses a deeply personal boundary, and he experiences it as a betrayal of his mother rather than a tribute.”

In addition to this, he feels that “transforming his mother’s life into marketable content is deeply distasteful.”

Prince Harry Doesn’t Need Prince William’s Permission To Make A Diana Biopic

On the other hand, Harry feels that he doesn’t need his brother’s go-ahead to honor his mother’s memory however he sees fit.

“Harry is utterly convinced that commemorating his mother is something he has an inherent right to do as her son,” they added.

“In his mind, Diana’s memory is not the property of the institution or something that requires his brother’s consent. He strongly resists the idea that the palace, or anyone else, should have the authority to decide how her life is remembered or presented.”
