General Hospital Star Steve Burton Says: ‘I’m Not Sick!’

General Hospital star Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) is setting the record straight about his departure from the hit ABC soap. Actually, make that his temporary departure.

Steve Burton: ‘I’m Not Sick!’

The actor made it clear that he is coming back to the show, despite some rumors suggesting otherwise. In other words, he’s not sick at all.

Earlier in the month, Steve shared a statement that said he’s going to be taking some time off from the soap to focus on his family.

And while everyone certainly does deserve to take a break from time to time, a lot of fans and critics alike can’t help but read between the lines of what Steve might actually be saying.

At the time, Steve took to his Instagram account to write, “Hey everyone, I wanted to share that I’ll be taking a short break from General Hospital.

I’m newly married and looking forward to spending some quality time with my family. I’m grateful for all the support and will be back this summer.”

But now the actor says that his break from General Hospital isn’t as dramatic as some people are making it out to be.

Steve Burton: What’s Next For Steve Burton?

He said, “Life is more important than anything else. I had a couple executive producers that said, ‘Hey, family and life is your life is way more important than any show that you’re ever going to do.’ And that really hits home after the passing of James Van Der Beek.

Like this is a guy that we grew up watching, or was, you know, a little generation, I guess, less than me, maybe. I don’t know.”

Steve continued, “[I am] grateful for the show, obviously. It’s been my whole life, you know, and to step away, it’s not always easy.

It’s like family there. But I have a family too, you know. I’m newly married. Want to take a break.

Want to live life a little bit and go enjoy, you know. And when you get on the hamster wheel of the process of this, it’s been a long time.

And I’m just excited to take a break, spend time with the family, and just go live a little, be grateful that I have a chance to do that. That’s a gift in itself.”
