Sparked by Steffy Forrester Finnegan’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) urgent plea, Ridge went directly to Taylor and found his multiple-time ex-wife kissing the man who had a child with his nine-time wife, Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang).

The Brooke Logan Scandal Was Intense

Deacon’s first marriage was to Bridget Forrester (Ashley Jones). That was a quarter-century ago in real-time, which longtime B&B fans might find hard to imagine.

Bridget is one of two children Brooke had with Ridge’s adoptive father, Eric Forrester (John McCook). That last sentence is full of soap but not nearly as much as the next.

Devotees of this enduring daytime drama also know that Deacon became involved in a scandalous affair with his wife’s mother.

Telling Taylor that he was going to help her heal from the broken heart syndrome, Ridge knows he sparked with compassion. It also appeared to be a plot entrance technique that would enable a reconciliation tale to happen, and it did.

The warmth and sincerity Ridge projected to Taylor were real. He recognized that the way he treated her over the years led to her emotional turmoil and wanted to be part of a permanent solution.

But the reason why Ridge opened his heart was that he felt Brooke’s heart was closed to him.

He cited her self-sabotage pattern and left her, which caused Taylor to feel she had a limited window to remarry her true love. That’s why she pushed engagement, and he accepted.

Taylor Hayes Plots A New Course

It’s arguable, if not accurate, to claim that Deacon is a rebound from Ridge. Taylor’s current romantic choice is a message to Kaye’s character. She’s taking a new path and doesn’t care what he thinks of it because his approval isn’t relevant.

Ridge, Steffy, Brooke, and eventually Sheila won’t have a final say in what Taylor and Deacon do. But how all of the connected characters respond, not just Sheila, will affect this emerging new couple that they can’t prepare for.
