Making a name for yourself in any field takes time. It also takes money. Logan starts with both.
Katie has Spencer Publications’ full support and the financial power it takes to launch and then support a new business. Plus, she has the Forrester name, which is unique.
Bill’s heartfelt wedding gift to his renewed bride was based on a belief that Katie’s worth wasn’t recognized at Forrester Creations. He was right, as Ridge Forrester’s (Thorsten Kaye) decision to retain a crisis management team to seemingly lead public relations efforts demonstrated.
Brooke Logan Forrester’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) dismissal of her younger sister’s ability to make it on her own was devastating. Katie assumed that Brooke was long past seeing her as a child, but that wasn’t true.
Katie’s proven success in one targeted area of Forrester Creations’ world doesn’t, in and of itself, ensure that she’ll be able to head her new fashion house. However, no one is proven in any position until they do it, and a chance to make that happen must first exist. That’s what Bill has given Katie, and she loves him for it.
Eric created a fresh batch of new designs on his own. He didn’t need Ridge, Brooke, or anyone at the company he co-founded to tell him to do so.
His motivation comes from within himself. It was that spirit, along with Stephanie Forrester’s (Susan Flannery) talent, drive, and love, that combined to allow those two titans to create and build FC.
Now, all these soapy years later, Eric sees a flash of his late wife within Katie’s determination. He knows that all of the elements to create, not recreate, something are ahead.
Logan gives Eric the chance to continue his life’s work. Katie offers him the respect and familial love that make his mentorship ideal.
Brooke has learned to tolerate the slings and arrows that a snarky world offers. She knows that her backstory isn’t pretty and that her enduring beauty doesn’t answer every question.
However, Lang’s character has made a major miscalculation in underestimating Katie. Seeing her as limited rather than bountiful is leading to unnecessary business problems.
Ridge is allowing his love for Brooke to cloud his judgment. He’s already and unknowingly lost his father’s support, ability, and status within the industry.
Logan trends to start strong and put FC’s near-term future in question. That iconic fashion house is strong enough to survive Logan’s challenge, but it will be diminished publicly at the start of what should be a solid battle in daytime.
