The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers for Wednesday, January 7 point to Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) confounding Cane Ashby (Billy Flynn) while Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) conspires.

Cane may have a train on every continent but he doesn’t know squat about the female psyche. Today he finds himself pondering what is wrong with Lily.

They kissed on New Year’s Eve but she is now distant with Cane, with her guard up. To Cane’s way of thinking, Lily is giving mixed messages and all he wants is to reconcile with the love of his life.

Meanwhile, Diane Jenkins Abbott (Susan Walters) is angry with Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) for defending Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott).

Diane is furious that Nikki chose not to leave Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) despite his vendetta against Jack.

Despite his wife’s fury, Jack defends Nikki knowing full well how Diane feels. He understands Nikki’s choice and defends her wanting to keep the family together.

While the AI program is still a concern, the family has shifted its focus to MIA Matt Clark (Roger Howarth). Matt was apprehended but the family chose to punish him in their own way.
