Deke’s reaction continues a pattern where he follows his father’s, Deacon Sharpe (Sean Kanan), example. Responding to life’s setbacks with self-control, resolve, and persistence allows opportunities to be accepted.
Hope Spencer (Annika Noelle) believed her brother was in line to at least contribute to her revived Hope for the Future line, if not lead it. Instead, Thomas Forrester’s (Matthew Atkinson) unexpected return pushed Deke out.
Hope looked at a series of sketches. There was an anonymous submission that struck a soapy chord. She couldn’t put her finger on it, but there was something about those designs that caught her eye and resonated in her heart.
Deke chose to submit his work without labeling his portfolio. He wanted no favoritism and didn’t get it. Instead, all who were gathered in FC’s executive suite were wowed by what they saw.
Cone’s character was thrilled to be given a contract, but didn’t know its temporary status would prove vital. Thomas’ desire to return to his family’s business and retake the lead design role with his cousin, Zende Forrester (Delon de Metz), assisting spelled the end for Deke.
Steffy Forrester Finnegan (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) liked Deke’s work and was prepared to allow him to stay at FC. However, her brother’s return to the family fold enabled an easy decision to be made.
While it’s not easy, Deke understands why Steffy made the decision. Yes, Deke didn’t want to benefit from family connections, which is exactly what Thomas is doing. But Atkinson’s character did have tremendous success in that role previously.
Staying in-house is a good business decision. But Deke certainly could have been asked to stay on. He wasn’t because fans know conflict is being reestablished between contingents of Forresters, Logans, Spencers, and Sharpes.
Choosing Logan as the name of Spencer Publications’ new fashion house is a bold move. But Brooke Logan Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) don’t think it’s beautiful.
Brooke attempted to tell Katie that she couldn’t use the Logan name and which created a bad reaction. Tom’s character took Brooke’s response as another slight and told her so. Bill Spencer’s (Don Diamont) assessment of how Katie has been undervalued was reinforced as a result.
Katie is even more determined to show her sister and the Forrester family just how capable she is. That effort includes filling her staff, with Deke being an obvious designer choice. Of course, other offers should follow in the weeks ahead, with FC being a probable talent target.

I love that Katie is putting Brooke in her place! Katie will win because she is more resilient than Brooke who always relies on her dear Ridge - they deserve each other. BOTH of them are bullies who think they are the only ones who matter…and I truly hope Eric switches sides to LOGAN because being pushed out by his bully son was HORRIBLE and if Eric were done he would have said so!! TOO BAD. Brooke, Ridge, Steffy and Thomas will have some competition and maybe the storyline will become interesting once again?!? Time will tell
