Deke Spencer (Harrison Cone) wasn’t promised the lead designer position with Hope for the Future. However, he was led to believe that Forrester Creations valued his designs and humble presentation of them so much that he had a promising future with the company.
Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) offered mild resistance while Thomas was making his pitch, which was actually a declarative statement. But Steffy’s co-Chief Executive Officer didn’t stop her from handling Hope Spencer (Annika Noelle), as she said she would.
Steffy agreed with Hope’s praise of Deke, who is the poor soul in this whirlwind series of events. Wood’s character said she believed Hope’s brother was talented.
Hope didn’t anticipate her choice for lead designer to be an issue, especially after Deke’s method of design entry was so well received. Yet, Steffy turned their transactional conversation around.
Deke has talent but he doesn’t have a future at FC. Noelle delivered another classic reaction shot to that piece of dialogue, with viewers knowing that the next conflict flashpoint can go well beyond Steffy and Hope having words. This drama plays out as the Forresters and some Logans versus the Spencers and other Logans.
Bill Spencer’s (Don Diamont) point led the way. He and his three-person family, which includes Katie Logan Spencer (Heather Tom) and their son, Will Spencer (Crew Morrow), will never be favored at the fashion house that Eric Forrester (John McCook) founded with his late wife, Stephanie Forrester (Susan Flannery). Specifically, Katie isn’t a Forrester and won’t gain sway there.
Devoted viewers and newer fans alike surely enjoyed a laugh when Eric recently commented about the garish nature of Bill’s shirts. Ridge enjoyed that joke, knowing that his nemesis had often referred to him as the dressmaker.
Katie isn’t disparaged by the Forresters, but she has been disregarded in recent weeks, as the company hired a crisis management team to handle the Luna Nozawa (Lisa Yamada) fallout. That plot point had Katie leaning toward accepting Bill’s fabulous wedding gift, but Will closed the deal.
He told his mom that worrying about how her sisters would react wasn’t right. She agreed they would support her choice, and at that moment, she became Bill’s new head of Spencer’s new fashion venture.
Katie needs to staff her new business. She needs good people. So, like many have done before her in this version of LA, poaching will commence.
Too many hints have been dropped. Viewers will expect Katie to offer Hope and Deke employment. Whether she asks Eric to join her is another topic for a different soapy day.
