The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers say that a lot of fans can’t help but wonder this same question: is the new Eric Forrester (John McCook) storyline ageist? Here’s what you need to know.

Is The New Eric Storyline Ageist?

From what we know, there is a storyline where Eric is designing and his family is planning a surprise retirement party.

Even though he hasn’t announced his retirement yet, Ridge claims his father is not qualified to design anymore because of his age.

This has prompted a lot of people to wonder: is this storyline disrespectful towards Eric and his age?

Of course, B&B fans had a lot to say about the matter on social media. Some even commented with, “The whole entire storyline just feels wrong and offensive.

I can’t imagine John McCook feels about playing this storyline. He has to be uncomfortable and these are the only storylines he is given.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised if John McCook ever leaves for another soap like Y&R. I wouldn’t mind if we see Eric there. He had history with Victor, Nikki, Jack, and Ashley, so it could work.”

Another critic wrote, “They do this every few years. It’s been like 3 times since 2018. It’s always Ridge pushing him out, even unplugging his life support to get control.”

What’s Next For Eric Forrester?

And then there was this comment as well: “I totally agree. Eric, while old, is shown to still be living independently and still has his mind.

It’s not like he’s in a wheelchair, requires a caretaker, or has dementia. There is no reason why he should be “forced” to retire if he doesn’t want to yet when it’s literally his company.”

“It would be one thing if he was making poor decisions, wasn’t taking care of himself, or his work was slipping. But we got no indication of that happening.”
